Very nice writeup & pictures! I will try to add some pictures of my install procedure once my new seats arrive. At this rate, we'll eventually have all of the major seat choices documented .

That looks like it would work rather well. Think Ill try this instead of waiting on an 06 STI owner to get bored with his current seats. Just for insurance purposes and saftey it would suck to loose side airbags. think Imma just buy an aftermarket Driver seat and leave the passanger seat alone. It'll look fugly but ah well.

I've got a 2006 wagon RS, and I drove from Montreal to Florida a couple of weeks ago.

Car had 3000 miles on it so the seats were pretty new, tell you what, my back didn't hurt, but the sides of the seat that keep you in place sure hurt like hel*l..!

Had to put a shirt under my leg that was resting against the side so it wouldn't numb out on me again..

I'm slim on top of that, couldn't imagine how a larger guy can be comfortable!

You mean a 2.5i Wagon...hehe anyways, my 2.5i seats HURT me! I'm 6'2", 250lbs...and they pinch me in the legs and shoulders. I'm buying the "wide" USDM STi seats since they fit me better

lol.. oups. I'm new to the subaru world. I've been wanting a subaru for over 10 years now, nice to finally get one so got some learning to do (wish it was a WRX, but my pocket book loves me for not doing it... =)

Thought the seats would be more comfortable.. Short rides no problemo, but longer ones.. ouch!

I'll look into those STI seats also.. heck I'm only 5"11 and 170lbs and the seats hurt! =)

One thing to consider is if you will be able to sit lower with whatever new seat you purchase. Especially for us taller types, even by adjusting the seat to the lowest position on the 06's my head almost bumps the ceiling.

Indeed. I actually don't have the steering wheel adjusted to the highest position any more ... and I can see under the wing .

I will say that if the TR seats are the same as the seats in my buddys 06 Outback sport the drivers is not good and the passenger seat is horrible. They just flat out hurt on any extended trip.

I like the STI seats the more time I spend in them. When the car was brand new they were kinda stiff, but have gotten a bit more comfortable with some miles on them and I never cramp on long trips. They could stand to have bigger shoulder bolsters and be a bit tighter, but they are way better than the TR seats. With the Alcantara covering, they grip well enough so the fact that they are a bit wider is almost okay. I would love to replace just the drivers seat with a Prodrive Sport seat, but I don't want to lose my side airbags.

I'm in the same boat pretty much. Except I'm not pinched in the shoulders, as I'm a few inches shorter than you. (how the **** do you in there anyway? I almost have to contort myself to get in. I even whacked my head when I picked mine up ) It's the plastic piece within the leg bolsters that pinch my hips.
Now I just need to find something that I can fit in...

Hoping someone can help me out here...

I justr swapped my 2006 2.5i wagon drivers seat with a seat from a 2001 RS. I am confused on a couple of issues:

-The seat position sensor. I can unbolt the unit from the 06 seat easy enough, but then what? There is no place to bolt it to the 01 seat where it can do it's job (ie a piece of metal that slides between the sensor to indicate position) Do I just plug it in and leave it hanging?

-I put in a 3.3 ohm resistor (NOT a 3.3K), but the airbag light is still on. Do I need to disconnect the neg battery term to get it to work? The package says "3.3 OHM 5% 1W303. Wondering if this is the right one. Hell, I don't even know if I put it in the right cable! Any pics of which one it is?

-most important, by doing all of this, I'm hoping it has not compromised my wheel airbag in any way. I obviously lost the side ones, but I want to make sure I didn't lose anything else.

-sitting lower is better.

Thnaks

Yes, you just let it dangle under there (or if you are worried, ziptie it to one of the seat springs underneath). The 3.3ohm should work to fool the airbag. But keep in mind, if any single part of the system is amiss, the entire system is disabled (and the AIRBAG light is displayed).

-Driver side seat position sensor?
-Driver side seatbelt latch sensor?
-Driver side airbag?
-Passenger side seatbelt latch sensor?
-Passenger side occupant detection sensor?
-Passenger side airbag?
-Occupant Detection center-dash display module? (aka clock pod)

If any of this stuff is not hooked up or in the case of the airbags, fooled with a 3ohm resistor, then you'll get the airbag light and the whole system will be NFG.

OK, just plugged in the seat position sensor, and the airbag light went off. So I'm good to go? (I plow into someone my airbag goes boom?)

OMG, i am so glad i saw this post today. I own a 2006 STI and was about to order a pair of Bride Ergo II seats, not knowing there were all these sensors to contend with.

I live in HK and i don't know of any tuning shops here that i would trust to properly transfer the sensors for me...but i need to do something about these stock seats cuz i'm 6"2 and i feel like i'm sitting in a van in my car. Does anyone know how much lower the Bride Ergos will sit?

Im bumping this...

Does anyone have pictures showing all these sensors?

there seems like a bunch that i had no idea even existed

I need to re connect ALL of these sensors for my airbags to work?

edit: after looking at the pictures on the last page, im assuming those are all the sensors for the passenger seat, right? if i do that tutorial, the passenger is good?

Here is a link to a write up I did.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=996050
Pics are from an 06 TR seat. All sensors were transfered onto a RHD JDM STi seat, (US passenger side) You can follow that or do what Nhluhr did to his Corbeu seat (essentially the same). Then all will be good for the Passenger side.
