I got gum on the carpet in my house once..I used ice to get it off. Just hold a pack of ice on the area, then after 10 minutes or so the gum should start to chip off. Worked for me.

I can TOTALLY see this thread turning into that episode of the simpsons when Lisa gets gum caught in her hair!!

Dude, you gotta use 3 month old pickle juice to get gum out! Everyone knows that!

Err, if you heat wax paper with an iron, you get wax on your iron, and on your carpet. I think someone mis-posted info on how to remove wax from carpet - put newspaper over the wax, and heat with an iron. The melted wax will wick up into the newspaper. Also, only use a low setting, since you can melt your carpet, too.

Ice is probably your best bet, for gum.

Fire. Lots of fire.

I'd always assumed the peanut butter trick would leave you with a de-gummed carpet that smells like peanut butter.

Not a pleasant option if you're allergic to peanuts.

Get some canned air, Turn it upside down and spray the gum. This will freeze the gum so you can break it out of the fibers.

Make sure you don't spray yourself or you'll get frostbite

edit: yes, also make sure you don't SPAY yourself. That would be REALLY bad

Hard to believe but some car care company actually came up with a gum removal product.

Check it out... here

I hear WD-40 works wonders on this sort of thing...just use sparingly..or you'll be overwhelmed by the fumes.....which for some people might no necessarilly be a BAD thing...
