Default New SOA-Approved Intake; Dyno Proven +5 hp, +10 lb-ft

It appears SOA will begin selling a new SPT intake early next year:

I expect it'll have a CARB EO number and won't affect your powertrain warranty.

anybody who's ever taken their car into a subaru dealership for any problems understands this joke. i took my car in for an oil leak and they blamed my blow off valve and me driving too hard. i asked about the slopper shifter and they said it was because i lean/push too hard on the shifter when i drive... i always drive with two hands on the wheel... i took it in for clutch shudder and they said i didn't know how to drive stick... **** subaru service

I got your joke too lol.

I coulda bought parts with the money subaru stiffed me for a having pink springs on my car. Denied my claim then it was misdiagnosed anyway. Guess now its covered.. Good news for the new starters I suppose.

Who is the maker never heard of them.

I saw the new intake in person at Subaru MotorSports day back in October. The testing engineer that was there with the 2006 STI. He had a prototype SPT Air Intake for WRX + STI. It has moldings on it to secure the stock vacuum lines as well as a bracket to support the intake so it doesn't just hang loose like a dong in boxers. It was a very nice looking intake! I'm deifinately getting it.
P.S. Here is Performance Import Trend's web page:http://www.performance-trends.com/

Catching on how?

More like cashing in by giving the 'tunerz' crowd a 'hot-air' intake that sounds cool.

Psh, psh anyone?

I wouldn't put too much faith into dyno numbers with the hood open and a fan blowing on the intake. Although that is pure speculation, it's usually commonplace.

Well, it's official. You guys can bitch about anything

No wonder Subaru doesn't make any effort in anything. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

compare two intakes, one inside the engine compartment, one outside the engine compartment in direct ambient airflow(or at least isolated from the engine bay heat), which would you consider is a "cold air" intake?

so, yes while moving the intake temps may be cooler than sitting, however, try measuring on a hot day a true cold air intake vs this subaru model. It is not uncommon to drop IAT's by 100 degrees moving the filter from the engine bay heat. so, think about that.....

Nice, an intake that can't void the warranty. Definately going to pick this up when it comes out.
