Ummm....how did you manage to break the front bar??

Maybe the end links?
Maybe the mounts?

But the bar itself?????? What is your VIN numberfor the car, I don't want anyone I know to be buying it later on.

As to parts, you can go with the dealer for a bar, a junkyard or aftermarket. Places like Cusco, Whiteline and others make replacement bars.

Your friend would rather get hurt tumbling off a sled at 60 mph, even on snow.

Hypothetical question: What if you had to stop? You would be picking your friend's teeth out of your bumper for months.

Maybe the car thought it was going 60 because of all the wheelspin even though he was standing still?

You won if you broke the stabalizer.

I dont quite understand what you meant by that???? But i broke the stabilizer on a different off road adventure involving gravel and big holes. I hit like a mound caught some air and hit the ground breaking the stabilizer. It broke on the drivers side right as it comes off the assembly from the brakes and rotor.

As for the sledding thing yeah me and my friends really did do that and i will post the vid once i get it. About the braking and him hitting my bumper wasnt a problem because he usually fell off doing around 40 mph. Only on one run we got him to about 60 and he went flying when he fell off it was great. Also i thought the mph doesnt go up if the car isnt moving? So yea that about answers most of it

If the wheels are spinning, you can bet that the Speedo is going to move. What do you think causes the speedo to work... The speed of air over the body?

Congratulations. Here's your sign.

My friend was roof surfing when another car came towards them, he lost his balance, and the driver, trying to avoid the oncoming car headed for the ditch, at 35mph. Surfing friend cracked his skull + a concussion. No more football for that kid.

Its fun to have fun, but remember, you as the driver are responsible, and if something goes wrong, you're the one going to have the guilt of hurting your friend.

I don't know how much of a positive response you were hoping to elicit from this post, but I don't see you getting much.

Okay, so he usually fell off doing 40...IF YOU STOPPED AT 25MPH, HE'D DIE, or be in intensive care. He has no brakes. Conservation of momentum states that any object will keep going until a force acts upon it. In this case, he'd fly 60 mph with no protection to his body, into your car.

I guess you just don't get it, we dont' want to see a vid, we don't think this is funny, we're scared for the poor idiot who strapped his sled onto the back of your car.

I'll be more wary of the subarus I see in Illinois from now on

^^^^ Glad someone explained it.

On another note, I'd love to see the video. I think it's great to see people making asses of themselves. Besides that, I think OT would get a kick out of it.

On a side note, anyone ever done the physics calculations on the number of G's a body withstands going from 60 to zero in a distance of 3ft (average crumple zone of a car)? Its nutzors. Then take that same analogy and apply it to 3 inches. Ouch.

ok well then i guess none of you are 17 and like to have fun from time to time.........and it wasnt like we just strapped him onto a sled and did it we made sure that there was a way he could bail or i could get the car away from him if something went wrong.......it wasnt a 10 minute operation......it was more planned out then just lets get him on a sled and see how fast we can go

another thing why would i stop at 25 mph.........and if for some freak accident i had to stop at 25 we had it established that if i blink my brake lights more then twice rapidly he would bail...like i said it was all planned out

lol, Glad you had fun, but it was still a pretty stupid thing to do.

17, that explains it all. If you want to have real fun then go to an autoX course. Much safer and much more fun than dragging Heehaw and the banjo brigade behind your car.

Lightbulb

Eh, I had great fun a couple winters ago towing a sled around behind my car in a nice big empty snowy lot, with a packed base and about 12" of fresh snowfall.

We didn't go faster than about 12- 15mph, and not more than about 100 yards total. We used a tow rope that was about 25' long.

The potential for injury or death was extremely low. But I'd sure wouldn't go 40mph, nevermind 60. That's beyond dangerous.

i've done dumb crap too, but usually less out there. just as i've done just what you said.

and no, not 40, much slower.

i had to clarify so it wasn't the proverbial pot and kettle.

Skis (actually Bigfeet(tm)) behind Jeeps on snowy roads are the best... Those were a couple of good days in college.
