Default Female Driver Search for ShimmySideways STi for 2006 AutoX

The ShimmySideways Racing Team has a unique opportunity for one St. Louis native woman. In the 2006 racing season we are interested in campaigning the ShimmySideways STi in ladies classes as well as the open class, particularly at National level events. Racing experience is preferred, but we would not expect anyone to be immediately comfortable driving the ShimmySideways STi. Team owner and driver James Elterman will provide one on one training at St. Louis Regional Events. The ability to attend a majority of the 2006 events will be the primary criteria considered in the selection process.

The Winner will receive a full year agreement as the ladies class driver of the ShimmySideways STi in 2006 and will be expected to compete in both St. Louis Regional events and travel to National events within the Midwest with the team.

Don't miss out the on this chance to drive the car that was the Fastest Street Prepared Subaru at the 2005 Solo2 Nationals and winner of the 2005 Central Division Subaru Challenge. Our goal is to put our ladies class driver in the trophies of the Street Prepared Ladies class at the 2006 Solo2 Nationals.

Visit ShimmySideways.com for more information or to apply.

Does that mean you're putting on a skirt and applying to drive it?

He's going to continue to codrive with me in Open class when he can. Don't give him any ideas about putting on a skirt.

You mean I can run in the ladies' class if I wear a skirt? In terms of fiscal steps toward the podium, that's about as efficient as it gets!

lol, they actually changed this rule recently because of people like you Ladies class previously never actually specified you had to be a lady to run in it.

Hey, whaddaya mean "people like you"? I put a good deal of effort into playing by the rules ... and trying to understand their intent.

An "aggressive" interpretation of the rules does seem to be the norm among the higher ranks, though. Just thought I'd check. It's nice to be aware of the available options.

All I know is that I do not want to be the impound worker responsible for checking that people are meeting the letter of that rule!!!

Jeff -- I see you've gone to extremes to get the dirt from rallycross out of the car!

James -- sorry for the thread hijack! But... it does keep the thread at the top!

I'm wondering when they're going to clarify that female means that you were born with the correct female genitalia and the appropriate chromosomes.

The explanation I heard earlier this year was that if the person was living as a female, it counted, even if the person was not born as a female.

Okedoke, I guess that counts for the example I was thinking of.

Karen, Scott Rhea at Izzy's Custom Cages had a few choice comments for some of the novel places he found dirt whilst building the cage

One could perhaps "live as a female" for the three minutes or so required to accomplish the necessary runs.

I don't remember for sure, but I believe the discussion indicated that the "live as a female" involved the formal/legal sex determination. I don't recall the removal of male genitalia being required, but the government might require the physical genitalia to be female before allowing the legal switch.

Either way, it's a lot for a guy to go through to drive the ShimmySideways STi! Maybe you can just ask if you can drive it in SM instead!

Your car is probablly lighter even with the cage with all that dirt out of there.

SERIOUSLY!

Lol. I have no particular interest in that car, I just want a viable venue for my own car. Considering the fiscal implications, SM might be a cure worse than the disease.

In any case, it will be intersting to see what 2006 has in store. :-)

ESX did pretty well when they had their competition to find a gal to drive their uni-body 9 sec WRX dragster. Julie also happens to be winning her events!

We tried to woo her into Team Blew last weekend at the ESX Subaru Nationals ... where Team Blew hosted the AX portion of the event. She went for a ride, claimed she didn't know how to turn ... but I think our (leering) guys scared her off!

.. strange ... lots of women have guy friends who are gay ?! ... but we suspect gals from Texas don't go for that!

(odd ... some browsers, FireFox ... aren't showing the photos?)

ShimmySideways is the name of my racing team. ShimmySideways is my driving style .

Just wanted to give this thread a bump becuase there isn't much time left in the driver search, and I'd like to get a few more applicants.
