Default Any autocrossers w/Rota Slipstream 16x7 and subaru 4-pot Calipers

I just want to know before I attempt the install. Please only post if you have rota slipstreams or know of someone who does, and the subaru 4-pots.

The rotas are 16x7 48et. All I've been able to gather from the web is the spoke to rim area, because of the design, won't clear.

I only want to know for sure, before I waste any time in the garage, esp given that the only wheels I have are 16x6.5, and decent hubcentric 5m spacers on backorder until November..

16x7 slipstreams won't clear JDM 4 pots... will require a 5mm spacer or more.

Can you confirm? Did you have the +48 offset of +53 wheels when you tried the install?

I find it odd that there's at least 5/8 to 3/4" all around the stock calipers.

Well, if this is true I'll be selling the wheels in November.

i have 17x7.5 Rota Actions 48offset and they fit my 4-pots with the 13.4" PowerSlot plus rotor kit. Those are my daily wheels. My track wheels are 17x8.5 Rota Slipstreams also with 48offset.

They only come in +48 for scoobies IIRC... that is the one that was tried.

I'll try a test fit on Monday. There's more room side to caliper than the optional 17's at the dealership, and only about 1/4" diffference to rim flat to caliper.

I didn't get to try them on, but I did get an email from Zoeb at Subydude confirming they will fit.

I will put them on as soon as my schedule allows and post clearance.

The wheels are so light, they make up for the Subaru 4-pot Boat Anchors.

More like 10mm spacer and that's still not enough clearance IMO.

This is w/a 6mm H&R spacer. Can't really tell how far it is but trust me it was way too close for comfort...especially if you're going to drive the car like it's meant to be driven.

HTH...

Do the 16x8 Slipstreams change anything? Do they fit over the Subaru 4-pots?

Thanks for the photo. Looks like I'll be trading them for some rs wheels for snow, and have to fork out for some 17 boost or tarmac 2s for summer.

I'm so glad I didn't do the swap and end up with no wheels.. All I have is 2 sets of stockers and the slipstreams.. I can't find 5mm spacers anywhere. H&Rs are on back order until Nov. The 48et's on the wagon already stick out pretty far, and to stick out another 1/4" and still only be 7" wide, not worth the trouble.

I sure hope so as that's what I'll likely be running next year You'll have an additional 1/2" (12mm) of clearance- should be no problems w/ the 16X8's.

I suggested this somewhere else as an alternative (albeit a little off the wall)- is to run the 16X7 slipstreams in the rear, put a pair of 16X8's for up front.

The wider contact patch up front seems to be a very good combo for the suby, very common in the "motherland" and starting to be more common here.

The slipstreams must have a pretty "radical" spoke design as there are few 16X7's that won't clear the four pots- obvioulsy this one of them

Not sure if the 16x8 slipstreams use the same hub positioning and just widen the rim by 1/2" on each side.

I'm not an engineer so I don't know...

Anyone contact Rota or Subydude on these question?

Yes. (I know this is a later answer)

I just checked with Dan @ subydude and he said the 16x8" versions clear no problem. That is what I'm looking at getting this spring, just wish they offered them in Gold.

Once I get them, I'll try and remember to come back to this post and confirm that what Dan has said is 100% correct.

As you can see in the above pic, they're very thin and blade-like. They made me nervous mounted on my 2400lb escort... but ended up being very strong.

I didnt measure when I put them on, but I have heard that the 4pots are actually a touch lighter then the stock brakes. when I took the stock stuff off they both seemed pretty close to the same weight.

They are lighter than the two pot sliders- not by much though ~ a smidge over a lb/side

I ended up trading for some 17x7 revolutions, now I have like 1/2 clearance. Too bad they weigh in at twice as much as the rotas.

I now run stock wheels and snow tires with 1/8" spacers--very tight fit...
