Talking Can a newbie come in and play?

Oh boy, have I got questions! Being a VW enthusiast I must admit I know between jack and squat about my new car (02 GT Wagon). I've been reading alot here today (I'm sure my boss will be happy to know that!) and I'm quite overwhelmed. Fill my brain with anything you guys feel I should know! Specifically, what are the different chassis names for each generation? I'm a bit confused as it doesn't seem as simple as MK"X" for VW's.

Hopefully this hasn't been asked too many times, I know how annoying newbies can be.. I'll try the search here in a bit, but I just wanted to introduce myself to the group...

Oh, something for you to look at...

model codes are pretty simple, actually (sedan/wagon):

bc/bf - 1st gen legacy
bd/bg - 2nd gen legacy (1995-1999 in the u.s.)
be/bh - current legacy (what you have)

and welcome.

roger

edited for clarity.

Well, I still have one VW left... It's my daily driver/toy.

1990 Corrado

Alrighty, so the chassis designations are clear now, but what is this B4 I keep seeing around here???

b4 is the model name for the current generation legacy sedan with a 2.0 twin-turbocharged engine. right hand drive only and not available in the u.s. the gt-b is the wagon version.

Welcome to the board!! That's a nice ride you got there (and the legacy too ) I've always wanted a corrado but they we're too damn expensive when they were new and nearly impossible to find used. But this is a LEGACY board so go crazy, mod the hell outta that GT, and enjoy!!

Nice...

I'll bet those cars look really lnice parked next to each-other. Black looks gooooood.

I always wanted a Corrado too. The articles always said "If you can't afford a Porsche, get a Corrado because its just about as nice"

The B4 is nice, but what America really needs is the GT-B. Sedans kick, but wagons rule.

Rear sway bar, SS Brake lines, and CAI. Steps one, two, three. Oh yeah, ditch the RE92 rubber. If you have a cottage they make for good boat protectors on the dock and that is about it.
If you have any Leg questions or engine/tranny this Legacy forum might be alittle more forgiving dealing with newbie type questions than maybe some of the other forums. i-club recently has had quite alot of new people joining and some of the info might not be as Legacy specific as you are looking for.
