Default Well... Add Another STI to the 400+WHP Club!! *UPDATED VIDEO ADDED*

Well, I just went back to Gruppe-S and got a 100 Octane Tune on my 2005 STI, and I finally broke 400WHP on a MUSTANG dyno(gruppe-s's dyno reads REALLY low). What is even more impressive, is Mike at gruppe-s was able to get these numbers out of a BLOWN motor. I brought my car to another shop, who didn't know what they where doing and they basically destroyed my rings. My car has MASSIVE blow by, but I told Mike to make it work, and he definately did. I highly recommend Gruppe-S to anyone... But on to the fun stuff

Engine:
Gruppe-S GT35R Rotated Kit w/ Custom Downpipe and externally Dumped wastegate
Invidia Catless Turbo-Back exhaust
Perrin FMIC
Perrin Injectors/Big MAF
Walbro 255lb/hr Fuel Pump
Cobb Accessport
Custom Gruppe-S Intake with MAF Sensor Relocated
Nitrous Express Intercooler Sprayer(never use)

Suspension:
Tein Flex's With EDFC
Perrin End Links

Interior:
Defi Gauges(only thing a car ever needs on the interior...)

And now the important thing.... I made 404AWHP and 396lbs of torque @ 24psi!!!

Gotta Give it to Gruppe-S they Turned complete Trash into a god damn beast!!

oh and if you wanna see what the car looks like...

***UPDATE... VIDEO ADDED ON POST 51!!!!***

Enjoy it while you can. It will only run so long with bad rings. Trust me I know first hand. Great numbers on a weak motor though!!

So you're the guy with the other gt35 kit that Mike told me about. Spinning your tires on certain gears huh. Great stuff man!! Those are some good numbers on the Gruppe-s dyno.

Actually you made 369 awt but the numbers are awesome on that dyno. For reference the fully built cosworth motor put down 450 awp on 100ish octane. I have to say I'm a little jealous. Here's a dyno of my sz55 setup on a 96/97 mix of 91/100 on a more conservative tune for reference. My boost settings where a little messed up so that's why the curve is a little jagged. I have since fixed this.

yeah, I figure with this turbo I would be happy with 380 with a little more midrange torque...... but mike is always telling me to save my money I'm sure you've heard this before! I'm going to sacramento to test it out and get some practice.

This is good news for the community because these guys had no clue to what they were doing. It's sad to see this happen to so many people, including Mark. I have 25K miles pushing 100 awp/awt past stock and the last compression test I did was between 147-148 on all cylinders. I also made more hp than when I brought to other "good" tuners.

You have to remember his numbers are probably close to 500 on a typical dynojet, and even higher on a dynapak.

HAHA ya, i'm putting numbers down that can blow the stock motor, on an already blown motor... good combination lol

We think what happened is from really bad tuning and running really rich, it actually knife edged the rings from to much fuel, so there is still a seal but under boost it has blow by. The compression test came back ok at best... it technically was still in spec, I don't remember the exact numbers it did but there was two cylinders down in the 137 range.... while the others where like 142-145ish. Then the Leakdown test was barely in spec also, not to mention this motor only had 6,000 miles on it at the time!!!!

The Shop was S-Squared out in Sacramento... What's hilarious is the tuner who blew all the motors has now become a teacher at wyotech.... go figure

I personally think it is sad that S-Squared has lost it's Tuner. The main shop-the repair and install side is still open providing the great service they always have. While every shop faces a couple unsatisfied customers (seems all three are here on this post), I for one have only had great experiences through their work.

Regarding Looking for power's comment that the tuner in question was responsible for "blowing all the motors" - come on now. I have seen the pics of your delicate break in. There was no need to openly bash them like you have done. You certainly had some responsibility when you consider how you approached your new ownership of that STI, or do you not believe in the pay to play theory.

MarkG had problems and decided to move on to Gruppe-S. That's fine, but what's not mentioned here as that S-Squared stepped up to cover the costs.

There is a huge following of people that only went to S-Squared. For whatever reason, the tuner has moved on. The main shop still provides excellent service and installation of both stock and performance parts. It would be a shame if your accusations here have an affect on the portion of this shop that is still continuing to do business.

While I am happy for your numbers, I am dissappointed that you felt it necessary to bash someone who is a great tuner, and a friend to our Subaru community.
