ok i got my first oil change at like 3k miles from a oil stop drive thru place on my 05 wrx. they put in 5w-30 oil. Now i have 7k miles on it and am ready for my next oil change. Where should i have it done and what oil do u all suggest. I just wanna do whats best for the car. btw i have a tbe catless. thanks.

Do it yourself...it depends if you want to make the switch to synthetic or not...tons of threads....look around meng

Do it yourself, it's extremely easy to do, and gets you familiar with the car.
Personaly I would stick with dino 10w-30 oil until the switch to synthetic at 15k, but that's just me. As far as dino oils go, I'm a big fan of Castrol GTX stuff. |

Wait till you have at least!12 to 15000mi. on it.Takes time to break in motor. Ive had two,One had 8000mi other had about 14000mi THe one with lessor milage seemed to breakin longer ,based on how car ran.It was ok but one with more milage ran quiter and smother.BE patient.It's a great motor it should last you a log time ,used Mobil 1 5-30w.Good luck.

Like has been said already, it's a bit too early to switch to synthetic. I'd go at least one more change with dino oil. Then use whatever you're fond of. For me it's Mobil 1, 5W30.

5w-30 is nice, but I think for californian weather it's a bit too thin.

they put in chevron oil 5w-30, whats that. should i use that again?
