Default Has any cobb stg 2.5 wrx raced a cobb stg 1 sti?

I recently traded in my 03 wrx(stg 2.5) for an 06 sti. The stock Sti feels quicker 0-60 but lacked just a little bit to the 03 wrx in the top end (70-110). I just got an AP for the sti and flashed to stg 1. The car is a beast still 0-60, but now i think it could take the 03 at the top. Has anyone ever raced this setup?

Just going by cobbs numbers a stg 1 STi has 5 more hp than a stage 2.5 wrx. Put in the better ratios, more torque and I'm sure with equal drives the STi will win.

good luck, a 2.5 car is a good race for a stage 2 protuned sti, once protuned 2.5.....well mine at least, its not a good race anymore

(edited)Let the STi break in a little bit more. Also, it's a good 200lbs heavier than the WRX so they may contribute to the feeling.

What's so funny? What kind of times did you run with your WRX?

Lol I think this is funny. I haven't posted on here for a long time but I had to come back to respond to this.

When my car was stock I took it to New England Dragway. It was the first time I ever took it down the track, I managed a 13.5@99mph with a 1.72 60'. I then did two 13.9's, and another 13.5@100 at the end of the night. I like to think of myself as a good driver. When I was still stock and Brendan was stage 2, we decided to line up (closed course...) and see how we compared. We raced multiple times, both from a dig and a roll. His stage 2 stock turbo base map car was DEAD EVEN with my stock STi. I've never had such a close race. He even outlaunched me... The ONLY time there would be any variance in the speed of the cars is up top, once the race exceeded 90-95mph, I would pull maybe a nose on him, no more.

Through our car's histories together, Brendan has CONSTANTLY edged me out. There was a period of time where I would steadily pull on him a couple of cars, I believe that was when we both had stage 2 base maps. Once he started getting deeper into modifying and tuning the car though, it was all over. I stick pretty well now, and my best of 12.91 is inching on his consistent 12.8's...but that was 25whp ago for him. The STi's have work to do when it comes to beating the WRX's straight line, and this is coming from an STi owner!

Sorry man but I think you're off base on this one.

Ummm, I know very well what the capabilities are of the WRX and the STi. My 2004 STi ran 13.003 @ 104.73 with JUST a catback and a gutted stock downpipe- that's it!

If I had some engine management, a stage 2.5 WRX would not be a close race, I'm sorry.

It may very well come down to the driver but I still believe what I stated above is true.

fyi, i never was good at launchin, got a 12.79/12.801 with 18s 1.999 or 2.00 60 ft, 108 trap at 261 whp, whp now at 298 same dyno.....you figure it out.

my car doesnt represent the masses but plenty of people have gone 105-106 on a 2.5'd car for many many years now with ets in the mid to high 12s, id say thats more then enough to run a stage 2 sti

I would put money on Brendan's car against yours with a Cobb stage 2 setup. He'd eat you alive.

like i said i dont necessarily represent the masses, im on the high side, but a cobb stage 2.5 basemap'd car next to another basemap'd cobb stage 2 sti, can be a good drivers race under most conditions
