Stockpiling parts...

Exclamation power steering leak

Ok...it seems like the oil temp sensor is leaking. The one that comes with the stock performance gauge pack.

I've searched and can't seem to find a part # for the sensor that goes into the oil plug. I know it's not a removable sensor and I hope it's not a whole piece that goes in the gauge.

The closest thread I found was this

Now is it the $28 piece or the $145 piece I need?

It's leaking by the sensor before the giant 27mm bolt.

TIA

EDIT:The leak was from the power steering line. It was the loose banjo bolt that caused the leak. PITA to get to as well...all is fixed...

Also check this out:

For about the cost of just the sensor, you can buy this entire gauge kit, then sell off the parts you don't need.

The sensor is not available as a separate part from the drain plug, you have to buy the sensor/drain plug assembly. I don't think that it's possible for the sensor itself to leak since it is external to the oil and doesn't contact it. The sensor is captive within the outer part of the drain plug but free to spin so the plug can be easily removed for oil changes. If you have a leak at the drain plug it may be the sealing washer, or an oil leak from above getting on the plug and sensor.

Unhappy

Took another look today and saw nothing around the sealing washer at all...I can't figure it out.

Maybe I'll snap some pics tomorrow...

Well here's some pics....kinda blurry but what is leaking here?

You're right, that sure is blurry. Move the camera back a bit so it's in focus and take more pics?
From what I can see, the drain plug/sensor appears dry. Looks like your steering rack may be leaking.

Anyone know how/why this would happen? Maybe because my garage space is tight and I'm constantly making sharp turns to park?

So how do I go about fixing this?

Maybe this weekend I'll have a chance to get under there...
