Arrow interesting road check (kinda long)

well, around 11:30 or so.. heading back home
road check, no big deal, went through many of those before.. though my HID worries me a little so I stay close to the car in front and hopefully it'd block some lights...

when it came to me.. the usual
officer: "anything to drink tonight ?"
me: "nop"

he look into the backseat.. nothing there except books. Then walked to the front.. looked at my headlights curiously, then placed a notepad infront of my lights..
me thought: "Shooot ! V.I..."

officer: "how come your lights are blue ?"
me: "my light is blue ?" (i always though my HID was white if not some what yellow)
officer: "did you change your light bulbs?" "coolblue or something it's called?" he added

i hesitated, "well, not exactly..... it's gas discharge"
officer: "how much did it cost you?"
me: "about 500 dollars" i just blurted out that number, though it'd be right on if it's in US
officer: "can you pull up to the side behind the mustang"
aww man..

officer: "can you pop the hook for me ?"
me: "k"
officer: "mind opening the hood, don't want to damage your hood"
though i'm busted, but he's pretty courteous..

hood opens, he weaved the flashlight a back and forth a few times, stopped on the intake
officer: "so you've done some work to this car.."
me: "yep" I answers hopelessly but trying to sound optimistic

another officer came... lets call him officer2 for convenience sake
while officer1 looks down at my head light assembly

officer2: "yeah.. that's the stuff" looks over at me "you said you got these for 500 ?"
me: "yep"
officer2: "where did you get'em ? you didn't get them locally did you ?"
me: "oh no, got them from the states"
officer2: "you know these are thousand dollar options on Jaguars and MBs.. 500 is a pretty good deal"
me: "yeah!" eerrr.. awefully interested in these stuff i thought

officer2 walks off
officer1: "well, I sure learned something tonight, thanks for you time"
me: "sure, no problem" ... WHAT ? COOL !
officer1: "have a nice day" and walks off
me: ".. you too"

got into the car happily, though kinda confused and scared, then drove off.

yeah i know.. phew..

question: from experience, lots of the i-club cars with big exhuasts and clear corners (lit white).. what do the cops usually do to you at a road check ?

I mean if there's so only so many VI you can get beofrore you get towed (according to B. Tang from the other post about the yellow typeR)..

there must be some sort of safety net somewhere so that people keep doing it or not having to change back to stock

Default I think that is pretty cool

as much as we like to diss the cops for being ......well, cops. they are just people like you 'n me. that would be pretty funny to see the RS cop out with a set of HID's. He'll probably stop you again and ask where from the states you got them for $500.

I found that cops are like an amplified mirror, what every your attitude you show them, it comes back two fold. You'll be amazed how personable most cops are, if you are polite to them.

That's what happen to me few weeks ago in Richmond there was a road check and one of the RCMP pull me over and said your car looks kinda to bright so he looks around nothing much and gave me a note to get them check from my dealer but after fews days later l just change the bulb back to stock and went to police station, the funny thing was that the cop just took my ticket and ask so you got it check and I answer yes then he say that's good you may go, so they didn't even bother to look at my car so it was just kinda wasting my time. Just weird.........

if you got the note which is VI ticket, and you don't check it at the dealer or authorized shop in 30 days, next time when they pull you over again, you might get in trouble.

Me: I'm the last one.
Cop: Is that a RS or WRS?
Me: RS
Cop: Oh, how come you don't have a WRS?
Me: Dunno. What's wrong with this?
Cop: How much is this?

but really, keiho, when you think about it, its kinda stupid how he blatantly ignored your exhaust, clear corner, lightbulbs and other things while going straight for the license plate

Because the other Sunny (Sunny Wu) said something to the cop, the cop said

Me: em... yeah...

Cop: You can't afford a WRS either?

Me: right....

Cop: okay, you're free to go

my conversation went as followed...

cop: "hey, is that a wrx??? nice car man!"

me: "er... its not a WRX... its a RS"

cop: "oh? how come you didn't go for the WRX?"

me: "couldn't afford the damn thing!"

cop: "oh, heh, too bad. had anything to drink?"

me: "nope"

cop: "ok, you're free to go"

that's the 3rd cop who asked me if my car is a rex... maybe i should really consider trading in . i want a wagon!

Well the french guy I had seemed all right. It seems that you were dealing with the "other" french officer when I saw you pulled over after I had gone through.

A question of: "What kind of car was I driving that night?" Will surely show his ability to even remember correctly. he would probably answer something like, "Um, I think it was a WRS or something, made by Kia?"

I went through 3 road block tonight.. and saw a car fliped upside down on gardencity and alderbridge. On the third road block the cop asked me how much did I drink, and I said none.. then he asked again and again... then I lost count how many times he asked me.. at the end he said he believes me and let me go.

I went through the same roadblock 2 more times afterwards, one at the exit of the hill going down bby mtn. and the other at the same one where I got ticketed.

Exit roadblock: got asked, I just said "I got asked the same questions just now", let me go. Nice and simple.

Same roadblock (other way): got asked again, I'm getting a tad annoyed "sir I just went through you guys not too long ago, this is my THIRD time." He answers "well I still have to ask you". Anyway, this guy was cool, just checks my license (again!), makes a wisecrack of "hey you had hair back then", and lets me go.

Why can't the FIRST guy have been cool like these other two?

Well, they probably don't like doing menial road checks anymore than you like going through them. Every once in a while ICBC gets anxious about drunk driving and has the police setup roadblocks everywhere. They're looking for drunks, not rice kids (no offense! I mean CIVIC ownerz!! ) out driving.
