I scanned this out of the Modified Magazine May 05 issue, but have yet to find anything about it online or on Nitto's website. Thought some might be interested in this new tire coming out and might know more about it.
Since the scan did not turn out very well, here is the info on it form the magazine: Nitto NT-01 Competition Radial Nitto's latest, the NT-01 competition tire, is a D.O.T. approved race radial with an asymmetrical, non-directional tread pattern. This tread pattern isoptimized for one purpose, and one purpose only: extreme cornering grip in dry racing conditions. Beginning with a tread depth of 6/32-inch, the NT-01 can be shaved to 3/32-inch to reveal a "slick" tread surface with two circumferential grooves. The NT-01 features a racing inspired tread compound formulated for on-track performance to deliver extreme cornering power for fast and consistent lap times. The NT-01 will be available in sizes ranging from 14-inch to 18-inch applications.

Too late for SCCA in 05. I myself have never had good luck with any Nitto product.

I know they would be too late for 05, but maybe something for next year. Never used Nitto's myself, but my brother does on his drag cars with no problems. That of course is a different usage and I would be interested to see how these new tires do in a autocross environment. |

I think they look tasty. Nothing wrong with another R compound hitting the market, especially if it can be cheaper than the V710/A3S05.

They'd have to be pretty good to get me off of 032s on the track - which have outstanding longevity.

coooooool more choices!!!
![]() it's too bad the Avon's pretty much disintegrate on heavier cars like ours. i really like their price point for the 225-16's compared to the V710 & A3SO5. going to keep an eye on these. |

This tire is supposedly has the heat cycling/longevity of the RA1 with even more grip.
A friend of mine has tried them on his rx7 and absolutely loves them...they tend to run better on lower pressure (28psi-32psi hot). He also thrashed the tires up to 260F and the grip did not drop off like other R comps... it does not grip better than teh Hoosiers he has but oh well....it's MUCH cheaper than hoosiers and last 10x as long =) |

I'll pick up a set in the spring. I've never owned a Nitto tire that didnt impress me. Sometimes they impress me in different ways, but I'm always pleased with the purchase. For a combined Auto-X/Track day tire, they will probably fit the bill nicely. Our cars love a uber-stiff sidewall, and Im not sure if these have one.

Since I first posted that article I have found that they are a track based tire rather than autocross based. How much did your friend pay for them and what size? |
