The swap was performed by Pacific Import Auto in the Tacoma, WA area. v7 JDM STi engine and a 5-speed RA gearbox I believe. The driver is a member here so he may chime in with more info.

Yeah, he's a member here, and he's pretty bummed right now.

He also has a pretty sweet Forester.

Drakos, Nice memory with a couple of exceptions...
It's a ver8 swap with RA gears in a WRX case. Kept the 4.11 gearing.

And Wagon is right, I'm pretty bummed. Fortunately we walked away from it.

He rents it from Cascade Auto on the left coast for the western events. It's easier than towing 6000 miles round trip.

Oh look, the scene of the crime! I built the rollcage in Erik's Legacy so I was very interested in seeing how things faired. The car is completely FUBAR'ed, stick a fork in it. Erik and Jay went off at high speed, probably 70+ and hit hard multiple times. The whole car is severely bent. The cage held up well, which I was happy to see. No cracked welds or anything. The cage did move a bit. It took some hard hits and rocks on it. It looks like the car must have landed on the right front corner once because the passenger side front strut tower is ballooned up (even though it's reinforced with 11ga plate) and is now sitting about one to two inches higher than the driver's side. The car hit so hard that it twisted the shell enough that the driver's door popped open during the roll. The reports I heard was that it did an endo and then rolled. I like to see how my work holds up but I don't like to see it tested like this. I'm just glad Erik and Jay are OK and just got their bells rung a bit.
That photo above doesn't really show how bad the car is. I took a bunch of photos of the corpse but will only post them if Erik is cool with it.

Ouch....Glad you two had no major injuries.

Props to Dave Clark for the post accident interest in how his cage work held up etc.. I want to hope all cage builders have this follow through but I know its not the case.

Wow. I only got a brief glimpse of it as I flew by, but I remember thinking it looked like a wad of crumpled aluminum foil. Glad to hear the cage held up. Kudos to you Dave.

the best part is that Erik and Jay stayed out all night with us partying afterwards, all bruised and concussed (haha is that a word?)...

Hope you get rolling again soon!

Eli,
We'll be back out as soon as we find another shell and get it built, whenever that might be.

Glad you two are ok. You can always build another car.

Erik, sorry didn't take any pictures of your car in the morning, I was summoned to help the Gushi team to drive their service truck 6am in the morning. We took off right away, so no chance to take any picture.

Hey, what sup Victor!

Missed Ramada this year. Run it twice from finish to end. Need to save the $$
for other rallies. This stuff gets bloody expensive!
I think Eric can vouch for that now!

Other than that live at work and try to have some fun.
Having a new v5-v6 sti built up. Another daily driver/rolling parts bin
