Default Best option?

I have a 2000 L with a 2002 swap, I want to "upgrade" but am unsure which path is the best for the money. So I have made a poll to see where people here stand. Remember this is bang for the buck, not best over all

1 V7 STi motor 4500.00+
2 V7 Ra STi Motor 5500.00+
3 V8 STi Motor 5500.00+
4 V8 Ra Sti Motor 6000.00+
5 EJ257 Block W/WRX heads
16G+/fuel/V7 tmic/EcuTek 4200.00
6 EJ257 Block W/WRX heads/STi cams
16G+/fuel/V7 tmic/EcuTek/acc 5200.00
7 Keep EJ205 16G+/fuel/TMIC/EcuTek/Acc 2500.00

if you're talking about the ej207.... $4500-$6000 is one hell of a deal... buy that

i would just keep the wrx motor and put a sti tranny in although, the v7 swap would probably be cheaper in the end, actually v7 sti swap =D

I will be doing a 6mt swap, I just don't see a better trans options for Subaru's. I am thinking that my EJ205 with a good turbo and suporting mods and a 6MT would be pretty nice. But the idea of a silky smooth rev happy Ra motor is pulling me in

when you do a sti motor swap do you need to change the differentials/axles/hubs/ etc etc like you do sti tranny into wrx or could you just swap the motor in straight foward

No you don't need the R180 rear for the STi 6MT.

A new car isn't an option... any new car I could buy won't performe at the level that car would with any of these options. Not with out mods, and a 30K price tag.

I see plently of people picking the V8 swap with no reasoning to back up why is the best value?? Sure it's cool JDM, but still.

Sounds like you're on the right track here! The 6MT will be a must, if you want big power. As for that power... while I love the idea of 8k redline, I lean towards the added torque of the EJ257. Good luck with you're decision!

How about just put in a good sound system, not a loud sound system but a good one. DVD-Audio or SACD, much better speakers and a nice quality sub. Then buy a cheap Corvette and set it up for track use. Strip it down, lower it, replace the glass, weld the doors shut and tweak the engine to your hearts content. Get a trailer and tow it to the track, everyone you drive past will see a fastish Subaru pulling a very fast track car and know who is the faster.

Hmm a 2700lb subaru "trying" to pull 3000+lbs worth of vette and trailer... not likely.

Maybe save some of your money and buy a built bottom end for 2-5k and slap on some RA JDM V7 or V8 Heads for what 3500 pick the turbo kit of your choice/expectations 1k-4k...but then i guess you are stuck with the stock tranny in all situations /shrug
