rear defrost/defog

My rear defrost isnt working.

Press button and I hear a click, but the light does not come on, and the rear windshield does not defrost/defog

Usually when there are gaps in the lines that line of defrost element wont work. But this sounds like it is at the switch end.
Check the fuse first, if that is okay get a $2.99 switch from Radio Shack that has a light, wire it up and see if tht works. If it does you can get a new switch from one of the OEM Vendors here. If it doesn't it's probably more involved and I can't really help you.
You may also want to check out where the wiring connects to the rear window. But again it sounds like your problem is on the switch end.

on the topic of rear defrost, i was just curious to know if when i turn it on, does it over a certain time frame, automatically shut off??

I think, I read it somewhere in the manual. If I'm right, it will be on for 15 min and should be turned off.

yes as stated the rear defrost automatically shuts off after 15mins
also shuts off when ignition switch is turned to ACC or LOCK position

Has your car been in the shop recently or have you gotten your windows tinted? My rear defrost didn't work after I got it back from the shop once. They had to take the window out for some reason, and what I'm assuming happened is that the wires had oil/dirt on them at the connection to the back window. I brought it back, they cleaned it, and it worked fine.
