In more proper automotive terms, advancing or retarding the ignition timing.

How much boost are you thinking of running?

Ya know, if you follow Project Impreza (Shiv's car) in SCC you'll notice that that's about when he ditched piggy backs and went full standalone a la Tec-II. The S-AFC, J&S knock sensor, ITC, EVC IV, and who knows what else...just got too cumbersome.

I'd say if you're only going to run low boost, a set of good gauges is a must, and proper tuning will ensure reliability..the J&S knock sensor is added investment...if you can spare the cash sure why not?

Doing it all over again though, I'd go standalone.

Shouldnt be any custom charges. Worst case you need to pay $5 + GST if he sends it USPS.

is ITC any good though? umm....

Advance timing will give better low end torque but will loose a little bit high end performance....yet since intake and exhaust valves overlap longer chance for piston kissing the valve is high, isn't it?

umm....

anyone has pix for how it looks? hehe

It advances/retards ignition timing, not valve timing. So theres no risk of pistons hitting the valves.

It allows you to adjust advance/retard on a RPM basis so you can get the best of all worlds.

Only problem is, it causes annoying check engine lights.

yeah....ignition timing....hehe...

CE light? coz the advanced/retarded spark ignited to the combustion chamber? or even setting at Zero?
