Not much new news, but the JCW Mini Cooper S in STX could be interesting...

I have to agree the JCW Mini will be some good competition in STX.

yeah, like limiting the runoffs to 24 classes and a bunch of car specs for SS and T (the latter under club racing proper).

Some club racing tidbits:

There were 23 national classes this year. Two more are added for next year, T3 and Spec Miata, but only 24 classes get to be in the Runoffs next year based on participation levels. The smallest class at the Runoffs this year was S2000 with only 15 cars.

In T1/T2, GM had been submitting compression specs higher than stock and has to go back to stock just like everyone else.

In SSC the Mini drops weight and gets a restrictor eventhough a Mini and a Civic ran nose to tail for the whole race at the Runoffs.

How many other B-Stock cars are in STX?

Hoppe is a *****.

Oh yeah, might be a good application for that funky sized Toyo we discussed yesterday.

Why the JCW package in STX? I thought that the JCW package went straight to BSP? I must have missed something.

It's in BS... but I agree... it shouldn't be in STX... it should be STU.

Something something 1 year something reclass.

I wish these guys would think stuff through. STS=HS & GS with the slower DS, STX=FS & the other side of DS. STU = AS & BS.

I was more intrigued by the DS cars going to GS.

If someone does prep one of these mini's will surely be interesting.

No, STX = low displacement FS. The more dominant FS motors (LT1, LS1, LS2) are STU fodder.

Since the aftermarket dealer installed JCW kit is also legal I'd guess Richard's Mini will have one the next time it appears so we'll likely see a well prepped JCW pretty soon. Don't know if Courtney will be driving that car this coming year or not but it would be interesting to see what he could do with a few more HP.

I believe that an 05 JCW Mini S with LSD will definitely be top dog in STX. As long as some decent drivers step up to build or drive one.

WTH, they would not allow dealer installed 17" wheels for the WRX for DS pre-06 model.

what does that have to do with STX? I think they classed the older dealer option so there was more than one year of the car available to people, as it will no doubt, be a quick car for the class. It doesn't make alot of sense to have the factory version in STX and the dealer version in STU, either.

I was talking that fact that it's in a Stock class. And it's a dealer installed item.

I think I know where you're going with this...

'06 JCW is a line item from the factory. You can say for certain the JCW is dealer installed and not factory?

Can you order the JCW performance bits separately, or do you have to get them with the headlights etc. also? Richard and I talked about this a while ago, but I've forgotten just how many permutations of "legal" and "illegal" we came up with in terms of applying the JCW parts to his older car as a package conversion, what parts could be left out/"substituted" under comfort/convenience, if he'd have to order an '06 JCW car from the dealer, or get a regular '06 Cooper S and then get the JCW performance bits installed at the dealer for it to be legal etc.

As for seeing Court in the Mini... ehh, the season starts soon enough. He might be in something bright yellow instead. You'd think that's a good hint, but it's really not Sorry!

Courtney was of the opinion that even if he had an '05 he'd throw away the factory diff for a Quaife as the factory diff just wouldn't cut it.

JCW kit comes with a LSD aka you can't order a JCW kit out it so one is definitely stuck in the rules there

Well that is what they are saying in the Fastrack.

Is this package for the 06 Mini a Factory installed item or installed after the fact.
