Default WRX intake manifold vs. STI intake manifold

I think the STI has a slightly larger port diameter but I could be wrong. Anybody know the exact figures/specs?

fitment is the same
The only difference is the red paint. The ports/runners are the same, as its the same manifold. (the paint supposedly has some heat retention/sheilding properties, but I am not sure I believe that)

So do we have any definative data on the red coating? Is it a thermal coating as many have said, or is it just paint like it seems to be (from the chips of it I have held in my hand, it sure as hell seems to not be thermal material)

This is a completely useless reply since you provided no data to back it up.
I agree that it most likely is. But we are looking for HARD DATA here.

If it were actual powdercoat I think it would probably stick much better than it does.

Umm, where is your "HARD DATA" for the WRX and STi manifolds being the same?

Glass houses and stones....

STI manifold has a slightly larger diameter intake (where the T-body lines up). You'll get a lot better results with the match ported T-body as well as porting hte manifold though.

Cheer,

Gary

I am asking about the coatings.

And the 3 STI manifolds I have held in my hands, and measured the inside of the runners, were identical to the couple WRX manifolds I have measured.

I wish we could get some "hard data"
what are the measurements STI port runner diameters eg. and standard port runner diameters? then...

So the runners are identical, only a slight difference in size behind the TB? Whats the reason for the small enlargement on the STI manifold ?

Just for the record, usdm sti intake manifolds and usdm wrx intake manifolds are not interchangable. The throttle bodies are different and have different mounts.
