Default Question about Tein HG shocks

I know there are a few of you on the board who have used these. From reading the Tein documentation and searching through the posts on this board, I found that they are designed to use the stock upper spring perch. My question is, are the lower spring perches that come with these designed so they could accept a stock spring? It would seem like that could work from looking at the pictures, but I'm not 100% sure. Also, were the lower spring perches threaded onto the shock, or sort of "sit" on there being supported by the bottom collars? Last but not least, anyone have the phone # to Tein in Cali? I had it last year, but seem to have misplaced it.

I need to use stock springs with the coilover product that I will be using, and this would be a nice clean way to mount the stock springs instead of having to cut off the stock perches off of stock struts and then trying to strengthen then to stand along w/o the strut on a coilover collar

Cliff Notes: Would the lower spring perches on Tein HG shocks accept a stock spring?

Thanks
-Tom

All I know is the phone number. This is their e-mail signature from last year:

Staff @ TEIN USA INC.
9798 Firestone Blvd.
Downey, CA 90241
Phone: (562)861-9161
Fax: (562)861-9171
www.tein.com

I can't find a phone number on their current web site. But unless they moved, the above should still work.

No. The spring has to have a flat bottom.

They sit on top of the collars, and have a set screw which keeps them from rotating.

Tein also has the "Type Gravel" strut - or something like that - which has the same kind of collar/perch adjustment & uses stock tophats, but the springs supposedly are shaped like stock springs. (I haven't seen them in person, so I can't say for sure, but I got a "yes" from the guy at Tein when I asked if I could use them with the stock springs.)

Good luck, beeawtch.

Oh, also - the HG's are double adjustable while the Type Gravel is single adjustable.

And the HG's are about 5-7 lbs heavier / corner than stock.

Ahh, the Gravel thing is what I want then. If I do use these I will be using them with the Tein SRC shocks They finally came out for the 05+ STi. Monotube gas inverted, double adjustable.

Get some kYB GR2s and be done with it. You're going to be wicked slow anyways, no point spending your monthly porn allocation on expensive shocks.

btw, happy holidays Tommy.

I don't see much reason why you couldn't have a set of lower perches made that the stock springs fit into......

Nice choice. Give us a review when you get a set of the SRC shocks. They were the same ones used by Prova on the STI for the 24hour Nurburgring race.
