Default Want to do a raod rally? need a navigator.

This is a great opportunity to get safely and inexspensivly dip your toe into the world of motorsport. And you get to help me out too!

I need a navigator for an upcoming Road Rally in January. A Road Rally, for those who don't know, is not a race. It is an exercise in precise speed control and navigation (hence the need for a navigator). The idea is to follow the proscribed course at the proscribed speed. Theese speeds are all within the posted speed limit, often below it. The tricky bit is that there are various manned checkponts along the route where your time keeping is checked. If you are late or early you get penalty points. Lowest points score wins. That would be easy but nobody knows where the check points are so you have to be on course and on time at all times. Tricky but fun. I did one last yaer and it was a blast.

This event is on January 7th, 11am till 10pm ish in the Waterford area of SE Michigan. All expenses paid my me including meals if you like. I will be driving my Subaru Outback which is a little modified (rally-x and FSP solo car) but will be great fun. I even bought snow tires for it in case the weather is coopoerative. Again, this is not a speed event, no racing round corners sideways etc.

Let me know if you are interested. i think it could be fun.

Try your local forum... might have a better response in there than here in motorsports.

Good luck and have fun!

If you have trouble finding someone for the right seat you might try giving the rally master a call. He may know of someone who needs a driver. Have fun.

man why doesn't anyone in N. FL do anything cool like this? I'd love to be a navigator or even a driver but down here no one cares if it's past a 1/4 mile

^^^ 17 don't matter, the math skills are easy to grasp, watch? not likely unless you enjoy standing roadside and watchinig traffic, a road rally or TSD is something that takes hours to do and travels over many miles, fun way to spend a day, but nothing "watchable" by any means.

I cant do airfare. Just entry fees and jam butties (google it).

For those who asked the rally is based in Waterford, just North of Pontiac, MI.
