Default Crucial copper gasket and gasket spray questions

I have a set of Crucial's copper gaskets. I see that using copper gasket spray is recommended. Couple of questions:

1. Is there a limit to how far beforehand I can spray the gaskets with the spray? Can I do it a few days before I actually install them?

2. How many coats of gasket spray should I put on? Just one coat per side or should I do more?

Thanks,
Anand

I don't have an "offical" answer but I've used the spray on 2-cycle head gaskets for many many years. (also two subies)

1. It stays tacky so you can spray it well in advance. Also you can always spray a small coat on a little before installing the gaskets.

2. 2 to 3 coat is enough.

I like to spray it AT LEAST 10 minutes in advance but I would not be bothered by spraying it a day in advance with perhaps another spray shortly before installation. The only thing I'd caution against is letting a sprayed gasket sit in a dusty environment too long and collecting a lot of dust.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I did two coats on each side today. I'll probably do another quick coat a little before actually installing them.
