I was going to get a 2.5" JCS/Brullin exhaust but I don't think it's ever going to get to me. Does anybody else make an exhaust that can be used with a turbo? As far as I know stromong's are NA only.
Thanks, Mike OK, changing my plan. Going to cancel the JCS exhaust and get a custom turbo-back made or fit pieces together. What are all the parts I would need for that. I think it's downpipe, cat's, center pipe, muffler. And up pipe too. Does anybody make any notable pieces? Any help and comments would be appreciated. Thanks again

So what are you triing to source out? Turbo kit or just the cat-back system?
In terms of the cat-back go custom through your local muffler shop. Try to find one that's reputable, preferrable if they have a manderal bender. I'm having a new one made for my GT in 3" with all manderal bends and strait through muffler. Let me know how your search goes. If anything else I can have the shop make a duplicate for you and just do it that way. I can give you details later when it's fitted. -Matt |

I found a really good shop up here, so finding a place isn't really a problem. They do stainless steel, mandral bends (the only way to go in my mind) I just don't know which it the better way to go. Here's some more info. I have shipping to me as we speak, from Outback motor sports a "turbo kit" which contains among other things, but the exhaust pieces are from the 91-94 Legacy turbo-crossover pipe, exhaust headers (mabe that's the same thing as the crossover pipe i'm not sure-can anybody help with that?) and the up-pipe, Now the problem with the up-pipe is that it dosent properly fit a NA legacy. It hit's the crossmember. Since there a very few (I have not been able to locate one anywhere in the US) of these, I either need to get a custom up-pipe (or find one from somewhere else) or I might be able to modify the one I will get. I'll find out in a day or 2 when it comes. I have no idea what size it is or anything. I'm planning on running 5-7psi. So i'm thinking no bigger then a 2.5" downpipe-to keep velosity up, I want some high-flow cat(s) also, and then either a 2.5" or 3" (any thoughts) on back to preferably a 4" tip. SYMS GT-are you going turbo? If you are getting a turbo back done, i'd like a copy, otherwise I might as well all do it at one place, unless it's marginally cheaper.
Thanks again Mike |

Mike-
Yes my '98 GT is turbo'd, since Dec. All is well and running ~9psi To answer some of your questions....Cross-over pipe is the same as up-pipe(turbo-feed) in aftermarket header/turbo-feed systems like SYMS or other suppliers. As for exhaust sizing, the most crucial area is in the pre-turbo sections. Here is where alot of studying comes in to get the correct flow and velocity to help hinder turbo lag. On the other end, turbo back, you want the least amount of restictions possible. At 5-7psi you should be fine with a 2.5" downpipe. Now for the mid-pipe back I'd at least go with a 3" system. As for both of these and everything else that deals with the turbo think ahead. We all get gready with power, over time you get used to the new found power and you want more. What I'm triing to say is don't waste your money, buy the best while you can. Parts and labor aren't cheap when you throw a turbo (custom at that) into the works. SOO..if you can go with 3" down-pipe and exhaust, upgrade to a ball-bearing turbo if you can, and so on. Just try not to buy something twice. -Matt |
