Default I just took out my snorkel and silencer...

I don't know if this is a mind thing but i think my car is slower. Has anybody had this problem or is it just a mind thing. Also the sound is awesome.

Put it back in.

Hopefully I'll have the data logs in a few days to prove why.

HAHA, Pwnt by the silencer mod...

genkidama20's rant about the silencer mod
(which no one ever listens to)

1. Took out silencer
2. Car lost low end torque and very slow out of first gear
3. BPV now makes a NON Sexy "Hummpfffff" sound, like that of an old hag breathing. I don't know why people would enjoy such an annoying sound. It doesn't sound one bit like that of an aftermarket BOV... but whatever floats your boat

4. Reset ECU, bought and installed GP Moto Delete elbow, checked hoses/connections, re-checked everything, but to no avail.
4. Put silencer back on
5. Lived happily ever after
6. The End

It's a hit or miss with the silencer mod, grounding mod, (Insert DIY Mod here), etc... 9 out of 10 people will have no problems. Then the other 10% just have a "dud" car or just have bad luck.

700 miles is plenty of time for the ECU to learn, reset it and let it relearn, it made a big difference for me

took mine out and in five times and now can tell that their is definately a loss in torque in my car. But i am only saying that for my car. some see positive gains. the only way to find out is just do it and see!

Just disconnect the battery, push on the brakes for a while. Some poeple like to let the car sit with the battery unplugged over night for some reason. But then just plug everything back up and your all set.

I did this mod on my sti and have had no noticable problems.

a couple of tanks, and the ECU will have learned how the airflow goes, and your driving style and should be at optimum performance

it's a lot easier than i thought it would be. Then again it was only yesterday when i took it off. Everything was still fresh on my mind. Goodluck though but i'm just glad i'm not the only one who realizes that it did make a difference.

Well i'll probably take it out once i get a k&n drop in filter. Would it be ok if it started running the way it was again, i mean will it hurt my motor in the long run. Sorry for all the noob questions. Now i'm all confused, people say remove it and some thinks i should keep it. I guess different cars do just respond differently than others.
