Default 05 STi BBS 17x8. with 275/40-17" Clear Yes/No?

Was now looking to max out the wheel wells with rubber and was wondering if anyone else has been able to get 275 to fit on stock rims? It is an 1" wider per side.

I know the ideal minimum rim with is suppose to be 9.0" but what's a 1" or 2" of unsupported tread width compared to buying new rims.

Thanks, good thread. A little long to read all 8 pages but did find the answer I was looking for.
Basically, the answer is YES if you want to run 275/40-17" on stock 05 BBS rims, but you will need a 5mm rear spacer for 05 STi.

Personally I do not care for spacers and am not interested in buying new rims so will go with 255's.
