i have pilot sports on my wrx which i am happy with, but my friend put the new KDW's on his WRX and I was very impressed, enough to consider switching to them if I ever needed a new set.

for 245's i think you need at least 8" wide wheels (preferably 8.5") but you need to check the specs from BFG

They are great tires, though they do wear kind of fast for my tastes.

I'm also grappling with what tire I want after the snows come off. I've been hearing generally good things about the Falkens. Generally good things too with the KDWs except for tire wear. The deciding factor might be the fact that Coscto has the BF Goodrich lineup in store instead of having to order the Falkens online and generally not having a store front to take them to for road hazard repair, etc. I do know one thing is that I'm not real happy with the tires that came with the car: Proxes TPTs. Not that I am exactly THAT aggressive of a driver, but they just don't seem to suit my needs. Cornering is a bit ponderous, steering a bit "clouded," and the wet/cold traction is not very good at all. Tires can really make or break the car, so I'm really taking my time now to figure which one I want to go with before spring/summer gets here. I'm most concerned with cornering as well as dry/wet grip (I know, just like everybody else)as my typical route takes me through the Oregon cascades on a tight and twisty road for about 70 or so miles. Anyway, didn't mean to jack the thread but am wondering many of the same things as everybody else about these tires and the Falkens.

Do you plan to auto-x? There are reports of the KDW2 "chunking" at auto-x and track day events. As I understand it, the tire is a good high-performance summer tire, but has too much tread depth or too little sidewall stiffness for auto-x and track days.

I got the G-FOrces 235/45/17 used for daily driving and the occasional thrashing. They are honestly great tires, little bit of noise compared to most, but when blasting music it's ignored. When driving aggresively they seem to wear pretty quick at least on the edges. Overall I'm very satisfied when it comes to the bang for your buck factor. I'd definitly recommend picking yourself up a set.

Well, for me, the majority of the tire's time will be spent on twisty mountain roads and city streets. The Toyo Proxes TPTs concern me because of the lack of wet traction. On corners at speeds I usually don't think twice about in my 4x4 truck, make the front end of my WRX push extremely bad and wash out when the roads are wet. I have absolutely no confidence in the rain with the car, sadly. Since I live in Central Oregon, we don't see a LOT of rain, so absolutely amazing wet traction isn't as critical as if I lived in PDX or SEA, but I would hope that the tires would grip and hold better than the TPTs. As for AutoX, I haven't delved into that yet, but might try an event next year and test the waters.

got my BFGKDW2's back in aprli. there's holding up fine, only auto-x'd once, and took to the drag strip once. they have almost 25k miles on them until i took them off for winter. the tires that i can only compare them to ar the stockers, and Kumho 712's
the KDW2's are better than eithre of those 2. i also love the wet weather performance.
i bought min from costco and FWIW, if you order them online, you can use any credit card, unlike having to use a debit or Amex when you are at the actual warehouse.

That's a good point. I forgot about being able to order tires online from Costco. Thanks for the review!

Cusson- That's funny you mention the Sports. I saw a set of these at the local Costco when I was in there getting my snows installed. The tires had been special ordered for a customer. The rep seemed pretty excited about them and thought they'd be a good match for my car (I took it with a grain of salt as I'm always leery of the possible sales pitch ). From my quick look at them, they are somewhat aggresive looking and using a compound similar to the KDWs I've seen in the past. I also saw a blurb on these in the last SportCompact magazine. The tires sounded positive, but again it was more of an ad/sales pitch than a "real" product review article. I'll definitely put these on my list though.

well i went over to www.tirerack.com and looked up the gforce sport tires. the price is great $105 a piece which is a real bargin. the stats on the tires looked really good too:

dry:
1. cornering stability - 8.7
2. dry traction - 8.9
3. steering response - 8.7

wet was good as well:
1. hydroplanning resistance - 7.9
2. wet traction - 8.0

all those scores were based on a 1-10 scale. for "ultra high-performance summer" tires the wet traction is just what im looking for. but like you said, montana_slim, tire rack could be doing the old "sales-pitch" thing too. im really interested to hear from some people that have driven with these tires.

thanks
