Default WRX STi for Europeans...

http://www.autonewseurope.com/2001fr.../subaru910.htm

@ 2001 Frankfurt International Motor Show

Subaru will give a European debut to the long-awaited Impreza WRX STi. The high-performance, 265hp model features a heavily modified, turbocharged engine with active valve control, new six-speed gearbox and large 17-inch Brembo brakes. The car comes fitted with big 225/45 tires on gold-spoked alloy wheels, uprated suspension and front and rear Suretrac limited-slip differentials.

Two versions of will be available in Europe from January 2002: A standard STi and a special edition Prodrive Style modified by the British race-engineering company responsible for Subaru's world rally cars.

The STi is aimed at enthusiasts and is even equipped with a cooling switch that sprays the intercooler with water. The Prodrive Style features a massive high-riding rear spoiler, newly designed sill spoilers and a deeper, squarer front bumper.

Also on the Subaru stand will be a four-door pickup concept based on the Outback

So they get 265HP, the six speed, and the Brembo's. Good deal if you ask me!

This pretty much throws everbody's "they have to sell alot of WRX's to bring the STi" assumption out the door. As many of you know, the WRX has not been flying off of dealer's lots in the UK as it has here...

Wow, first Mitsu announces a European EVO, and now Subaru the STi. It's almost as if they are competing... hmmm...

Anyone notice the "...and large 17-inch Brembo brakes..."

17-inch brakes enh? What, do they mount 25 inch wheels?

Exclamation

I notice a lot of people saying 17" and 18" brakes, I think they mean "brakes designed for 17 and 18 inch wheels"... but they're still wrong!
