Question General questions about Vancouver...

Hey all!

First off, I just wanted to say "HI" from the Montreal Subie Club. You guys have a lot of great rides down there, and I'd like to see some of them one day.

Now, the purpose of this thread (although a little OT) is just to ask you guys a bit about Vancouver, and BC in general.

Honestly, I love Montreal, but I'm kinda getting sick of it. I need a change of scenery for a while. I was contemplating moving to Cali, but thats a little far fetched/expensive/not realistic. Plus, I'd rather stay in CANADA !

So whats it like in Vancouver? Does it really rain all the time? Hows the job market? Is it expensive to live there? Hows the city itself...good clubs/bar scene? Hot chicks? etc....

I know theres a lot of Scoobys!

Anyways, all answers and suggestions are appreciated!

Damn, just realized that its 5:30 am for you guys.....WAKE UP!

Thanks!

IMO vancouver is a very nice city. the job market is OK, but could be a lot better, of course. as far as how expensive it is to live here, I don't think that it is any more expensive then any where else in canada. I was recently in edmonton/calgary and the prices are roughly the same. the only difference is 1 less tax in alberta. the club scene here isn't really that great, though it's been a few years since I've been clubbing. as for chicks, it's like all cities.....some hot, some not yes it does rain out here a lot,but that what keeps the air out here smelling fresh. you can always come out and visit one day and let us i-clubber out here show you around.

Living expenses here are comparable to the East coast I would believe..might be a bit cheaper.

Does it rain all the time? Close to it, but it's really not that bad.

Hot chicks? Yup.

It's a great city, very laidback and well...most people here enjoy the way the city is...

I love Vancouver. You can go from the beach to the mountains. There's lots of good food around. People are generally nice and friendly and helpful wherever you go (unless you're walking down the downtown east side maybe ...)

How bout coming out here for a visit GooseMan? The i-clubbers are a friendly bunch here

Cool...thanks for all your help so far guys!

Sounds like a cool place! I've never been further west than Windsor (on a drive to IL), and I'd like to see more of the country, ESPECIALLY B.C.

Maybe I'll have to drive down for a visit!

Keep em coming.......

I came from Montreal also, full time party head (Like partying 5 days a week), moved to Vancouver a year ago. And I could tell you that I miss Montreal so much man. If you like Night life, don't come to Vancouver, if you like out door activities, this is the right place! If you want to know more about the difference between Montreal and Vancouver PM me, I'll explain a little more.

Well, Cali is still cool, but its expensive, dangerous (besides what happened yesterday), expensive, green card/immigration issues and not to mention, expensive!

PLUS, I'd rather stay Canadian!

Can anyone hook me up with a job?

Y'all can come work at my place!

We haven't been affected at all by the negative IT hype, in terms of layoffs or stock performance. Serious people can contact me, if you're a c/c++ software engineer, or with a math/physics background.

Having visited both Van and Montreal a number of times, I'd have to say that Piusma is so correct. Sounds like you're a partier Goose and Van is not the place to be. IMHO, Montreal has the most babelicious chicks in Canada. Living/working in downtown Toronto has its moments but Montreal gets the nod in my book.

Whistler is cool but it's not worlds better than Tremblant, unless of course you like backcountry, oh and the breakaway all-girl VIC faction.

Hey Goose, are you going to be at SportCompactPerformance near the end of October? I'll probably be in Montreal for that.
