Is this the L-shaped bracket in question? To the right of the BPV, securing the IC piping to the manifold.

I didn't get a bracket. I made one myself by bending and drilling a strip of aluminum.

I determined that bracket to be extra weight.

Nope, thats not the one I was talking about. I mean the one that is about 8-10 inches long that has a 90 degree bend on one end and then twists into a C shape. I dont have any trouble with the pipes moving, but it would be nice to know what its for.

that one goes under the intake pipe. which i couldnt get to fit so i took my factory intake tube thing and deleted it with a hose coupler as seen here

Painted the front mount cuz i don't like bringing any more attention than the car brings now!

overall the install went pretty good on mine. the cold side pipes where the one that went through the hole and the one that goes to the cooler didn't want to line up for **** so force was given to fix that. i don't like that the 90 out of the turbo is touching the pitch stop mount thing. and the spool has slowed with it also but i knew that coming in ... just needed it to move on to a larger turbo.

did anyone else have problems with the inake sitting too high not letting the hood shut?

I trimmed about 1/2" to 3/4" off my 90deg elbow to avoid this same issue. Not a big deal since there's plenty of hose after the bend.

I have a K&N filter with my setup. It measures 6" at the base, but no problems getting the hood closed or rubbing on the underside of the hood.

i think i just noticed that i need to rotat the cold side pipe at the throttle body downward and that will give me the clearance i was looking for and make the connection between the one that goes trough the fender to the one that attaches to the cooler a better fit

did you cut the 2" side or the 2.5" side of the 90?

I cut the 2" side, just enough to help with clearance.

I had this same problem. 6" base for the cone filter. I had to squish it for the hood to shut. It doesn't give me problems...but it looks kinda tacky.

Oh well.

i installed mine, i dont have fog lights but have one fog light housing and it fits fine. so there is no reason you can't have fogs. you just have to trim quite a bit of the housing. 2005 STi !!

Oh well.

i got mine fixed where i can run the factory intake elbow to the maf adapter now. just loosened the cold side from the throttle body and in the fender liner and pushed the pipes down... all it needed i guess! but the filter still rubs the hood and the hot side pipe is hitting the hood liner beside the oil filler cap

You can as shown above.

I don't know much about the 06's but I know with 2002 to 2005 (2004 and 2005 I have only forum info on and haven't see it myself) you can keep your fog lights. For my 2002 I had to cut into the back of the light housing but it's behind the bulb so you can't see it. Not that it matters to me since I have fog covers.

I think there's a pic in this forum somewhere of an 06 with it's fogs still. I'm on dial up right now, or i'd search around.
