I have an 06 wrx.

I wanted to install this FMIC kit but do I have to take that plastic black piece out of my front bumper.

I was planing on puttting a grillcraft grill in there and you need that plastic piece for it to fit.

Does anyone have a pic of this?

If your talking about the black plastic pillar and all in the gap of the bumper, then that gets cut out to fit the fmic....

Thats actually part of the bumper and would need to be cut off to fit this FMIC.

I used cable ties to put my grillcraft grill on and it works fine.

No, sorry if I was vague.

I meant if you are looking at the 06 wrx.sti there is a horizontal piece of plastic that has 2 "slits" cut into it.

I realise that you have to cut out the other plastic inside the bumper.

I am just trying to find a way to put a grill over my FMIC so it doesnt get damaged by debris.

The grill craft one will cover everything but the top inch of the fmic.

pics for reference.

If you remove that plstic part for the FMIC and then install the grill there would be a gap where the grill doesnt go.

I want some way of putting a grill over the whole FMIC( like evos have it covered).

Thanks hope I went into more detail.

That piece normally does get cut off.... BUT you could trim the bumper to keep that piece if you needed to.

^^the bung by the fuel lines is just a mounting point. I believe the kit should come with an "L" bracket that mounts to the two holes where the old tmic bracket mounted.

mikzcha: Was it impossible to fit the washer tank back in?

It's too bad the hole is so wide in the 06 bumper....

It needs a wider core but then you would not be able to keep the fogs.

At least my car is black so I can paint the IC and it won't look so small.

you might be able to get the washer tank back in, but i didn't want to try.. fitment was extremely tight in that area.

also i forgot to mention.. the blitz intake does not work with this kit. i thought it would because the blitz intake i have is from the blitz fmic kit. so right now i'm using the ssac intake arm w/ a 3 inch filter. i resealed the spot where you mount the maf to the arm.

There should be a L shaped bracket that secures the hotside piping to the intake manifold. This helps hold the piping in place and prevents rubbing on the hood, battery, and oil spout.

I dynoed today with the FMIC....

Since I am supercharged, I get what I get for boost levels, and any interuption in the flow, I lose boost....

So, I WAS at 12-13 psi with my smaller FMIC and 190 whp and 201 torque.
The new FMIC dropped me to 11-12 psi, but I dynoed at 192 whp and 212 torque. I did retune it, but I am confident the drop in boost was due to efficiency, not blockage!

i installed this intercooler and the second to last pipe (the one that goes through the passenger side fender) squeks as the engine moves side to side over bumps and sometimes it squeks even when i just rev it... anyone know of real fixes instead of just styrofoam?

I had the same issue. I used an old intake TB to TMIC coupler I had in my parts bin and wrapped it around the IC pipe. It doesn't make a sound any more. The coupler is wire reinforced, so it should be a while before the sheetmetal eats through it.

mine definitely has a squeak at idle, when the motor harmonics shake it more. Once revved, it goes away. I think mine is hitting on the hole on the driver's side where the piping makes a U-bend.

How many hours does it take to install this.

(For reference I have a 2006 wrx if that helps.)
