2002 WRX Sedan. Can I put 225/50/16 tires on the stock wheels without any interference front or rear?
Thanks - Bill

The stock wheels at 6.5" are really to narrow for a 225mm tire. Wheels should be at least 7" wide or better still 7.5".

... Anymore tips on double clutching??? Most 225 tires are well within specs to be run on a 6.5" rim. They are not too narrow. Many 225's can even be run on 6" wheels within manu. specs. You'll give up some turn in feel in exchange for added grip. But feel aside, most 225's on 6.5" wheels are PERFECTLY fine. Perfectly within the recommended range of the tire. Done by a lot of people... Last edited by REX8; 12-28-2005 at 09:05 PM. |

To clarify...yes they will fit on the wheels and yes they will fit without rubbing and yes, people have run HARD (autox in stock class) using this size tire with no problems on those skinny 6.5" wheels.

I just finished up a set of BFG gforce KDWS 225/50/16 on the stock WRX wheel and never had any problems with rubbing although I think the extra tread made them a little squishy in very hard turns, but they were still adequate. The overall diameter of a 225/50/16 tire is very close to the stock 16" tire size.

225/50-16 will fit with no issues
and the rim width range is 6" - 8" for that size |
