Smile Subie Garage this Saturday, Summary of all Threads/Posts...

Hey everyone,

For those of you showing up this Saturday, this is a home garage but we are looking into creating a shop in the future (more info on that to come). Therefore we are charging a little bit for working on cars, to support the tools we are buying for a possible shop, this is just to inform people. Most small things we do not charge at all right now. But such things as suspension install, downpipe installations, Turbo Timers, etc... we do charge.

In any case, we plan on starting around 9am and going till we are done. This Saturday the 15th...

Thanks,
Bill and Chris...

when bill says a we charge a "little bit" he means some soda/drinks for when we get thirsty or lunch and 20 bucks for each of us.

Considering we have to pay off some of the tools, eat and all other shops around charge 65bucks an hour...having your stuff done by us is not that bad, except bill does get bad gas sometimes

Idjit, I might be able to have it done for you. Maybe you can come over on Sunday to South San Jose when we are fabricating my Uppipe? I'll have to check with my friend on this one first though so as not to surprise him. He's great with metal though and actually does a lot of fabrication work for his main job. He's the fabrication guy at the shop and does all the custom seat brackets, caliper brackets, roll cage installs (soon to be design as well), exhausts, etc... He even made a table that was used to support a car during a show.

As for the $65/hr shop rate, Subaru charges $90, and my friends shop actually charges $95 an hour.

You guys mind if I come over too? I want to check out the stock exhaust on some RS's and under the hood as well to make sure my uppipes will fit the 98-2000 RS's. Also, I was talked into doing a downpipe and would like to check a few things under the car as well.

Idjiit,

I would say, have local420's roommate do it. Probably be the cheapest and the best way to do it.

I still don't have enough experience to do welding on other people's stuff. If it were my own I would do it.

Everyone, who wants to come is welcome.

Default Springs?

Any chance I can get some springs on my car?
I wouldn't mind shelling out some cash, knowing it'll go towards a new subaru garage.

christoph1371- Awesome! I'm waiting on getting the Vishnu EGT bung one. So hopefully you won't be sick of doing them by the time I get mine

Also, Thanks for all your help/advice with my exhaust.

Oh,.. and how would you guys feel about doing a clutch on a DSM? I'm sure my friend would pay more then your current rate for help with that if you have the tools.

subachad -
Are you one of the Red Star Racing guys? I heard the price you charge RimRockaz for his rails, it seemed really steep to me. Sounds like you guys put a lot of time into it, so with that in mind the pricing is understandable. But really, for someone experienced in this kind of thing - it shouldn't take as long. Reliable sources tell me it shouldn't take more than hour if someone "knows what they're doing". Money is tight right now...

Not trying to slam you guys or anything, just trying to play it smart.

Edit: should != shouldn't

Sounds cool, I'll be there too to watch, help, hang out. I'll be the guy with a black Honda (no WRX... yet...), blue STi apron, and a case of coke.

For all those that are planning on coming...remember to park in front of the house UNLESS we will be working on your car. We have a VERY uptight neighbor who likes to call the cops and tow company.
