Default Tire recommendation

Hey guys. My stock re70s on my STi are toast and I would like to pick up some new tires.

I am looking for a tire that isn't too expensive, will last a while, and does well in the rain, as I am in Seattle, WA. I either autocross or track the car twice a year, so hardcore dry performance isn't everything I am after. I really want something that can handle well in the wet weather we have here in Seattle.

I don't know a while lot about tire brands, as this is an area I haven't researched a whole lot yet. What can you guys suggest? Thanks, and have a happy new year!

depends on what your goals are....if you want the same dry summer traction, or if you want more all season. I just purchased a set of Avon 550 A/S high perf. all season, and they rock in inclimate weather, and are pretty good in the dry, not to mention a but quieter than the stockers....plus they were 99 a tire.....alot cheaper than the pirelli P zero M+S

Avon 550 A/S is a nice choice in my opinion. I'll be picking up a set myself when the time comes. If you are not planning on riding on snow than regular 550's are a great choice. Should have a better dry traction than A/S and probably just as good wet surface traction. My gf just got regular 550's for her IS300 and as far as I can tell an already quiet car just got quiter. Thats one of the reasons I'll be picking a set up; my biggest complaint is noise and ride comfort!

Im down here in Portland Oregon, and I just got a new set of Tires for my STI as well, we get around the same ammount of rain, and for me, i choose the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3's 235/45/17's... Picking them up 2morrow, there on sale at tire rack 128.00 each, and i drove a fellow STI'rs' that has them, and they did AMAZING in the rain, and on a dry day, they held there own.

Chris!

Dude you gotta post a lil more in our local section! I replaced my RE070's with some SO-3's. You're welcome to come try them out before Sunday if you would like. I'm not sure if you're looking to spend close to $190/tire though. If you're looking for something a little more reasonable, you might want to check out the reviews that the Fuzion tire has been getting on tire rack. Those are probably what I would have gone with if there had been more info about them when I had to replace mine.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/fuzion_zri_c.jsp

Those are two different tests. First one has the SO-3s in them and the second one has the Fuzions.

I have the Pirelli Pzero Nero. Great all season tire and wears very well.

How old are they? If you 'just got them' and are still in the break-in period, just wait...they get oh-so-much better.

I put the the Nokian WRs on a couple months ago. I just wish we'd get more snow this year, I can't make them slip under the conditions we've had so far. 400 treadwear rating, and great traction in rain, the siping is awesome. I'll go back to my RE070s for the summer though, I like the stiffer sidewall.

Rota Boost 17X8 with Nokian 225/45/17

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.

At this point, I am really leaning toward the BF Goodrich KDW2.
