I'm thinking I'm not going to install my AVIC into my forester so I'm looking to sell it.

For those who aren't familiar, it's one of those little radios with the pop out screen. It is a single DIN package. Includes navigation w/ gps. (Comes with 2 DVD's, one for western US, one for eastern US). Plays DVD's. Touch Screen. Has a remote box to accept alternate inputs. I also have the microphone for voice commands.

Anyways, it's in real good condition. It was pulled out from a '99 outback (dealer uninstalled for me) and should have that harnass installed.

If you're interested, post here or send me a PM.

I just searched ebay for completed listings and it appears they are selling for ~$900 - $1000.

Asking price, $950, including shipping if outside Chicago suburbs.

Offers more than welcome.

OMGHi2U

I thought only the avic-n2 could play DVDs??

*edit*: If you can show me that it plays t3h DVD's, I'll probably come pick it up within the next couple of weeks

It has DVD, DVD navigation, and audio inputs correct?? cuz that's all I need.

N1 is just the older model of the N2. It can play DVDs and is easier to bypass.

I had an AVIC-N1 in my car for the last trip to the PA shootout (bought/used/returned). Worked great, played DVD's just fine... all you had to do was ground the lead you're supposed to put on the parking brake, and it plays DVD's all day long, driving or not.

The newer AVIC-N2's supposedly have a gyro sensor in them, so you can't play DVD's with the car moving at all... and you need to solder some connections on one of the circuit boards together to bypass it.

Yes, the dvd restriction is easy to bypass on the N1 (just a ground you need).

It'll play DVD's, navigate (although, you can't plot a route and watch a dvd at the same time, you have to pick a route, let it save, and then swap in your dvd).

it's got inputs for a backup/reverse video camera, and a standard set of a/v inputs (for your ps2 or other media device). also has a set of a/v outs so you can hook up additional screens in the car, if you so choose.

it's really a nice unit. just a bit too much bling for me...

It's definately worth it just on the navigation alone. The equalizer is pretty in-depth for what you'd expect out of a dvd player and the picture quality is pretty good too.
