Default WRC paint scheme

i hope i wont get flamed to bad.... as i am not posting in OT

i was just curious what the first season was that subaru used a gold wheel/blue paint scheme in the WRC. i searched this forum but came up with nothing. also if you ever remember seeing the same scheme in rally (not just WRC) before, i would like to know. just trying to prove a point to another dumba$$ evo owner. thanks.

the blue and gold color scheme appeared in 93' along with the beginnings of the impreza rally car. I could be wrong, but I think the origins of the blue and gold comes from their main sponsor at the time; 555 cigarettes.

1993 Subaru Legacy RS 4WD. In 1993, British American Tobacco became the primary sponsor and changed from a Rothmans livery (on the '92 Subaru Rally Team Europe) to a 555 livery.

Drivers that year were Colin McRae, Ari Vatanen, Markku Alen, Hannu Mikkola, Possum Bourne, and Richard Burns.

The color scheme was used on the Legacy rally cars also. Not just the Impreza. As was stated before it came from the main sponsor 555.

From a biography about Prodrive founder David Richards: The gold rims were a mistake. They were supposed to be some grayish color, but the supplier got it wrong and it was too late to get replacements before the first rally. The anecdote went on to say Richards called Subaru to appologize and say they would have the gray rims for the next rally, but Subaru said stay with gold. They already had numerous orders for gold rims from just the one race.

you guys are great, i figured it had to be that era, as i recall watching mcrae in an imprza with this scheme as one of the first WRC events i ever watched. just wasnt sure if it was much earlier than that or not. thanks a bunch, and if you have something to add that would be awesome. thanks again.
