Default Hankook's Z212's

I've seen these tires in many threads, but thought I make one more dedicated to the tire. Pros/Cons Welcome!

I plan on purchasing these tires but EVERYWHERE I've called have to order from the factory with a 2wk delivery time (no shipping fee). I've got a price of ~$105 a tire mounted/balanced, is that a good price? If so, should I go ahead and order? Or is there a place online I could get them sooner/cheaper I.E. Tirerack? Also, will the Z212 in 225/50 R16 fit an 03 Wrx? That's what I want to get but don't want to order the wrong tire...

Sorry `bout all the questions, trying to knock out all my questions.

As Always Thanks in Advance,
D

225/50/16 will fit the stock wheel but it'll be stretched. i've personally never ran 225/50/16 on a stock wrx wheel but the general consensus is a loss of turn-in but outright grip is increased.

as far as price goes, $105 mounted is average for the size.

pros: dry grip excellent, wet grip still impressive, quiet, ride is very compliant
cons: besides low tread wear, i really dont know since i dont autoX or track.

i highly recommend it. until the falken rt615 comes in 225/50/16, no other tire can touch its performance for the price.

I'm thinking of eventually using them as a replacement for the RE070's on the STi. On the WRX I used to run 225/50-16 without any problems at all on stock rims.

Sorry I was thinkiing aloud ^^^

Looks like I can save money getting them local from the Factory, but maybe get them earlier VIA UPS, depending on luck really. You know how UPS is.

Thanks,

I ran those on my 02 2.5RS and my 04 WRX in that size on the stock WRX wheel. I hated them. They were way too soft and "felt" heavy. They also didn't like the summer temps here in AZ and running on concrete, but can't fault them for that as the drivers didn't either. I went to Falken RT-215 in the stock 205/55-16 size and the handling was greatly improved. I believe that the sluggish response was a combination of the vehicle weight, rim width vs tire width, and sidewall "softness". I wouldn't recommend running them in that size on our cars with the current weight, or at least using a wider rim. I have seen them on an 05 STI in 245/45-17 and their wear and handling seemed worlds better for that car. I think the tire is good, but my experience with that size on the stock wheel was awful. I plan on trying them again later in 225/45-17 or 235/40-17 when I get new wheels.
