Default 2.5 swap

i've tried the search button but i am still confused. i have 2.0 wrx right now and if i wanted to swap it to a 2.5 and i would have to swap the wrx engine for a sti engine? becasue the sti engine is 2.5. or is it swapping somthing smaller to get the 2.5? because the sti engin runs about 4000. Can you run the 5sp on the sti engine? i know its not benefical but i just wanted to know. thx

I believe quite a bit of people still running 5spds with even the sti engine. Though it's not the best setup, it can still hold a while if you don't abuse it

u know i searched around and talked to some people that had the s/b swap and this is what ive learned in the past couple months...

the swap is possible and u can use your 2.0 ltr heads on the sti block. if you have an upgraded turbo/injectors/fuel pump you'll see the 2.5's power and much more GEAR BREAKING TORQUE down low. if u have stock stuff then you'll proly see a bit more in the torque dept and some hp. the wrx clutch and fly are used b/c you'd still be running the 5spd tranny.

keep looking around for more info too... their are many who've done this swap and have more knowledge on it than i am.

i plan on doing the 2.5 ltr swap soon myself btw

oh ya, and u can use a legacy 2.5ltr block too, not just sti... but i would sti

First let me say sorry for digging up an old thread but can you give us an update on how your setup is holding up?
