Default 04 WRX to EJ207 swap

** I'm fairly new to Subaru cars just like everyone was at some point. **

My engine is shot. With all the issues in the engine my best option is to get another engine. FYI, here is the list of the issues, my current engine has a blown head gasket (we put Blue devil, from what I heard it wont last long), has a knock noise (good chance spun bearing) and lastly and most recently timing belt broke while driving (valves bended). - The engine came with these problems, the only problem I cause was the broken timing belt (being new to Subarus I did not know they were interference engines)

I've thought of some options but in the long run I believe it will cost more and take more time, please tell me if you agree.

- STi long block and use my current heads; my heads are damaged. (most money and takes longer)

- JDM STi ver 7/8 EJ207 engine swap. (probably cheaper and less work)

Thanks in advance guys.

dolosolo a version 7 or 8 is gonna cost about $8000, because if you swap the engine you will need to swap the transmission too...

KuReg - no need to swap the trans too - the stock 5MT will bolt right up to the 207 - you can even use the WRX clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate.

It sure as heck seems like less work to me, but I guess it's relative. We did my swap in about 6 hours.

Drove car into shop, removed motor, dropped in 207. drove out. It's the easiest swap to do - only 5 wires need to be hooked up (and they don't NEED to be, its just AVCS). Car ran like a top.

STI hybrid is more work and definitely costs more, plus you take the risk of something being wrong if you assemble it yourself.

If you do the hybrid - spend the extra cash to have EQ cut the heads to match the bore. or it wont be tuneable worth a crap.
