Default Largest tire on stock rim

What is the wides size tire that I could fit on the stock WRX 16 inch rim. I want to get a set of pirelli P-zero's for my car and want something wider than normal if possible. Also should I get a differnt series tire like a 55 or 50 instead of the 60?

225 50 for the street. I've seen 245's though...

You have 55 series now (205 55)

A 215 is nice though. Shorter gearing, plus a stiffer sidewall.

i was running 225/50/16's on my stock rims. they didn't look right to me, it flared out too much in my taste.

...lets just face it...a 16x6.5" is too damn small.

Running PZero Nero M&S 225/50-16 for winter/colder weather on stock rims. Turn in is not as crisp as Fuzion ZRi's [225/45-17 on Kosei K1-TS 17x7 for warmer temps] but ultimate stick is amazing. I like them...they look a little big for the stock rims but consider it Subaru's state police car [troopers always put tires too wide on stock steelies]. I like these meats so much that I may go with the summer Nero for my 17's.

I just can't afford to get some 17"s I have to much other stuff that I want to do first and I am not THAT worried about performance that I will spend $500+ for wheels and another $100 for a 17 inch tire. I would rather just upgrade my tires that I have as they are starting to get to that point, I still have a bit of tread left. I usually don't corner that hard and have ridden in two cars with pirelis cornering super hard in the rain. I don't want to much flair out, it sounds like a 215/50/R16 Pirelli is the best choice. Thanks for the help.
