Default No Center Cap on Rim? Help?

Is it safe to drive around without center caps? I just put on some 17" Wedsports sa-90s (used) with falkens but they have no centercaps. There is an exposed area in the center of the rim that looks like the outside of the wheel bearing/hub. Can I drive like this? Is it necessary to order center caps? I don't want to damage the wheel or the bearings. Thanks for your help.

Ben

PS - if I do need caps for the center of the wheel, where could I find them? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the quick response. Anybody else have anything to say? My neighbor warned me about brake dust/road debris damaging the bearings...?

I haven't run center caps on the last two sets of aftermarket wheels I've had, my present ones included. It looks neater - my gunmetal wheels looked downright goofy with a polished center cap, so I sprayed the rotor and bearing/hub area with semi-gloss black and installed the wheels.

Center caps keep the dirt out. However, I've not heard anyone have problems with not having it.

My Volk TE-37s have no center caps - I don't think Volk even makes them for the 15" TE-37s. They see mostly auto-x use, but I've often left them on the car between events so the car's seen thousands of miles with no center caps. No issues.
