I bought a carbon fiber hood for my previous car, which turned out to be fiberglass, covered in carbon fiber. A year later I rolled the Impreza. The car was totaled, but the hood flexed under the weight of the car, and popped back up into shape when the car was put back on all fours, no structural damage, just deep gouges to the hood, and a curve on the hoodscoop smoothed somewhat flat.
I am currently enrolled in the Pennsylvania College of Technology, collision repair major, and made it a project for the semester to fix the mentioned hood, and 4 months later it is installed on my 95 Impreza, under flat black primer. I can't afford the money for paint (I am still without a job up here), nor can I afford a drivers side 99-01 headlight (I have the passenger side) so I figured it would be in my best financial interest to sell it. (try to?) There are two areas that need a dab of Polyfill, each spot no bigger than the width of your thumb. In one spot, the "weave" is not completely covered (sanded through the filler, carbon itself doesnt sand well) and another spot near the drivers side vent, also carbon, again, sanded through the filler and didn't see it until the primer was on. The products used were 3M's Automix Rigid Plastics Repair, followed by Polyfill, then a coat of Duplicolor primer from spray cans, used temporairly to protect the repair until I could get the money together to paint it, in which case I would sand it off and use PPG's primer. Hence the discolorations over the repair area, but that will NOT show through when it is painted. There you are. One fiberglass hood, primered, vents and scoop included (repaired also), and silver Sparco hood pins (smoothy headlight also available if the hood is taken) The weave in the picture below is obviously visible, but the surface is smooth (just more primer discolorations), and it will not show with a topcoat. ![]() ![]() Ebay headlights $30 if anyobody wants them. They were installed to check the gaps.![]()

You probably could make the carbon fiber visible again, but you would also have a huge bright blue area where the gouges were repaired.
Make me an offer if you are interested, I want to see if I could get anything worthwile before I commit to selling it. I have an idea of what I am looking for. |

Reflectors, they took on water, and the reflector part is some film, peeling out of the low beams (smaller ones). The back is all taped up, used a small roll of electrical tape on them, and they have a generic tab wiring harness, no plugs or anything. They're junk. The low beams are worthless, but the high beams are somewhere between regular low beams and regular high beams. They have a cone shaped beam, I don't mean like along the ground, I mean overall... noticed driving through some woods (Like PA has any shortage of trees). If you were crafty, maybe use the low beam on the passenger side for a cold air/ram intake for the... intake, but that would of course be illegal. They are crap, I wouldn't wish them upon anybody, but maybe somebody could get some kind of use out of them. 25$ plus shipping, and they weigh maybe a pound or two each.
