WTB: engine for 2004 STI

A friend of a friend blew up his engine in his 2004 STI. Anyone know where he can get one in New England or online to replace it? How about a wrecked STI with a good engine? Any help would be appreciated.

What does he need? A short block right from the dealer was $1759 when I bought one last December.

I was just going off a voicemail that he left me when I posted. I called him and got more details.

He has an oppurtunity to buy an STI with a blown motor for really cheap. Not sure of the exact damage done to it, but it needs a new motor. He doesn't even know if the turbo is good on it. He just wants to drop a standard STI engine in. No JDM motor...no Stage 4....just wants it to be an easy drop-in. If someone had a smashed up STI with a perfectly good motor it would be ideal.

I wonder if this is the guy in NH that blew three motors on his STi selling it.

I don't know for sure....but I have a feeling its a white STI with a carbon fiber hood you are talking about. I think it might be the same car, but I don't know for sure.
