Andrew,
You should have a gear day out by your shop on a weekend to show off the gears and the amazing work you do.
Just a thought.

Never got a response from you. I have a full GC8 Wrx swap and ended up breaking second gear in the 2.5rs tranny, but i didn't want to have to swap out the diff. and all to put a WRX tranny in there. Do you have ratio's that will work with my diff?

To do the PPG 1st and 2nd (syncro) with the late style OE 3rd and 4th (new gears, syncros, and selector), we'd be looking at approx $2600 in parts.

Andrew what gear oil do you recommend for the 1-4 straight cut dogbox? And for that matter, the stock r160?

Could you tell me what you would recommend as an upgrade for my GM6 w/ 2005 wrx swap? This looks like a perfect match for my plans (~350whp/12's)... I really like the idea, 1/2 PPG and 3/4 RA that dug-e-fresh mentioned, would be this available for my app?

When you miss a gear or "grind" it is'nt it the stncro taking the abuste and not the gears themselves? Did you break any teeth on 3rd?

Depends how bad you grind it... it can be both. Or just the synchro's.

Did I break any teeth on 3rd? Uh, yea... all of them .

Either Mobile 1 or Motul synthetic (75/90) in the dog box. In the rear I would use the same. You can get away with something cheeper in the rear, but I would use quality fluid. It doesnt hold much.

When you hear grind it could be the engagement hub grinding on the syncro itself or the syncro nubs on the gear. Either will cause problems down the road obviously.

Do you do crated, already built transmissions that people can buy and have shipped to them as backups? For someone who hasn't already broken any gears but wants to be prepared (knocks on wood) for what could occur. Thanks.

ok, so right now Im running RA gears, and they seem have me redlining 4th on my axis stg1 block just before I cross the finish line.

looking at dug-e-fresh's post about combining a PPG 1-2 gearset with the RA 3rd and 4th sounds like a cost-effective option. But this sounds like I'll still have the 4th gear redline problem as I cross the finish. What should I do?

so your trapping like 120-130? if your not hitting read line then i wouldnt worry about it. and if your readline is still stock, then push it back to like 7800-8000 (build heads only)

no im trapping like 113-114, ra gears are supposed to trap about 116 on wrx heads at redline in 4th. I just have wrx heads that have been flowed with usdm sti cams. redline really hasn't been raised.

Would this platform be sufficent for a built 2.5 with a GT30r? I'm looking for something that can take some abuse and still remain streetable. Any suggestions on clutch, rear diff upgrades?

I would think you would want to go with either the PPG"'s on 1-4 or stay with the 3/4 that's in the unit now (late style). The ratio change from PPG 2nd to ra 3rd wouldnt be very nice. The PPG 2nd gear ratio is 1.87.
