Default Correct Or Not ??

I was thinking about getting set of wheels for my 02' rex. But wanted to make sure I had all the right facts. I am going to get the gram light 57 pros but am unsure about some things. If I get the 17x8 with about a +48mm offset will the wheels still be able to fit ok without rolling my rear fenders or can you only go with the 7.5 wheels to avoid rolling. Also I would like to run the about the widest tire I can on either the 7.5 or 8 depending on which size i get, would this cause any problems and does anyone know what the tire size may be. It seems as if most people run a 235/40/17 on a 17x7.5 wheel but what are the other sizes you can go with? And what would be a good size for the 8? And to double check even if I dont have a bbk I still need about the +48mm offset to correctly center the wider wheel in the well?

Thanks Alot

who is running a 235/40 17?

on a 7.5" wheel you could run a 245/40 the tire will be slightly smaller in diameter to the stock setup.

on an 8" wheel you could run a 255/40 all though you may need to roll your fenders if you're using a +48mm offset.

+48 is the optimal offset for the wrx, even without a big brake kit.

a couple of things

235/40-17 minmum wheel width is 8.0" as is the 245/40-17. 255/40-17 needs atleast an 8.5" width. The 17x8 ET48 will fit your WRX fine with no issues or fender rolling needed. If you want to run the 235/40-17 it will be fine

So by gettting the 8" wheel as long as I run a 235 tire I won't need to roll the fenders but If I decide to go wider in the future and roll I will have the option of going to a maximum of a 255 tire? Would there be any difference between the 235 on a 7.5 or 8 as far as handling and gearing etc... ? I mean isn't it essentially the same set up just on a wider wheel so why would someone want to only get the 7.5 ?

Thanks

the wider the wheel the wider the contact patch, as long as you're properly sized.

255 on an 8" wheel will have a smaller contact patch then a 255 on an 8.5" wheel
