Default Wnt to swtch to 2.5 sti block from blown stock 2.0

I Currently have a blown stock 04 Wrx (rod bearing) and am hopefully now taking the opportunity in having to rip the motor apart to upgrade to an 2.5 sti short block. But before I make this decision apparently its not as simple as taking a 2.5 block and throwing it in there and calling it a day. The only mods that I have done are TB exhaust, uppipe, boost controller and bov. Plan on sticking with the stock turbo for now but would really like to upgrade to 2.5. Any input from people who have done this swap before or know how to achieve this and have the car running right (like tuning needs or mechanical) please post. I'll take all the advise I can get, last thing I want is another thrown rod. Thanx

it will run decently if you just swap the shortblocks. pretty good actually from what im guessing from other subarus (although ive never touched a USDM). usually when guys do that they get a ECUtek reflash tune as well, perhaps ask this question or do some research in the 2.0L forum.

Like he said, put it in and get an ECUtek flash. The BOV and boost controller are no way to tune a WRX and probably the reason for your car's untimely death. You won't get the maximum power potential of the 2.5l bottom end on the stock turbo and injectors, but you'll be way up from stock. And you can just save your $$$ to upgrade the turbo, injectors and intercooler later for mucho more power...

Is it safe to say that I can keep the stock injectors and not worry about injector failure with the new block? Dont want my duty cycle getting to high. Do plan to put in a 255 pump to aleve the work out the stockers are getting, but if its smart to put larger injectors in, I would prefer to do it when the motor is OUT of the car. This is gonna be ohhhhhh so much fun.

injectors are just as easy to do off the car as on. have you ever done somthing as complicated as swap injectors before?

your stock everything should be fine for everything. a 2.5Liter isnt anything special, its just another block that everyone and their mother does.

you really would get the best answers for your concerns in the 2.0 liter powertrain forum, this forum is dedicated really to concerns slightly differnt than yours.

Yes I have in my buddies rex, and the green rails of death were no fun at all (I also have short fat fingers LOL). Now if those impact rails were already non-existant then it wouldn't be that bad.

And this is also why I have threads in the 2.5 and 2.0 forums, I just simply also had concerns with the tuning of my car, which is why I posted in here also.

tuning your car is best consulted with the dyno monsters. you might try calling the guys at the big dyno shops (gruppe-s, kingpin, iap, fli, etc)

they do these things like clockwork.
