Default AP stg 1 + headers?

Would running a set of headers with AP stg 1 (stock TBE) cause any problems?

I'm going to be installing my Boost and EGT gauges soon & going through the how-to threads to see how it's done. I'm kinda wary of drilling into the stock manifold (never done anything like that before), so I was thinking I should have a spare manifold handy in case I mess it up. That got me thinking, what if instead of hunting down a spare manifold, I pickup a set of headers? I know my money is better spent on a TBE but I want to get the gauges in sooner than later to learn how the engine acts as close to stock as possible.

FWIW, I'm not even at stg 1 yet, I'm waiting to get the gauges in before plugging in the AP. If all goes well, I'll get the gauges into the stock manifold, then apply stg 1 after a few days of seeing how it runs stock, and then switch to the headers sometime after that. If however I mess up the stock manifold I'll install the headers & gauges first and then flash stg 1 a few days after.

Thoughts?

Considering that the AP stage 1 has a hard time dealing with even an intake, then yes you will very likely have problems.

Either get real EM that can be adjusted, or dont get the headers

Honestly drilling and tapping the stock manifold shouldnt frighten you, its INSANELY easy. I know its intimidating, but I assure you that there is very little chance that you cant handle this.
Its 7 bolts to remove the drivers side manifold, then drill the hole (start with a small bit and work up in sizes till you hit the correct size) Tap the hole and put it back in.
