Default V4 sti reliability tune

should i get a tune after mild bolt ons like exhaust, intake or little things like that. or is the stock v4 ecu perfectly capable by itself? im new in the EM dept. for sure. i'd like to keep it reliable like stock. pulling extra power is always good tho!
im not about to drop good money for an unnecessary tune. i've heard most jdm tuners use FC power commander. but is that the best for a semi stock application? is there another option that is equal, and is better for upgrades in the future(that won't drain my bank account)? these are some basic questions i have currently, and i'm sure there will be more to come, but thanks to everyone in advance! -keith
