Question Akita......Got SPD Struts & Springs Yet?

Akita,

Hope I got your name right first.

Have you got your struts and springs from SPD installed yet? You mentioned that it would be 2 weeks till you had the setup...just checking as I'm having a craving for getting a set to.

Kinda nervous cus of dropping that kind of cash on my car and don't know how worth it would be.

Thanks in Advance.

Sorry but no. I need to find somebody to help me put them in. I don't want to blow another 200-400 for install.

Hey, I put them in today. I haven't had a chance to really test them but from what I have done they are nice! I have them set at 1 in front and 4 in back. I will be playing with them today and will be able to give a better description.

Ok, I went out driving for 4 hours today! They are really good for the money. In all I think I spent 700 plus alignment. I would recommend them to anybody who is looking for a good cheap suspention. I am a happy camper.

Thumbs up

Cool. How does it feel, please don't spare any details. How is body roll now. How is braking acceleration cornering?

You spent $700, thats for both SPD springs and AGX struts and shipping from SPD? Did you install it by yourself?

Was the lowering so drastic that it needs alignment? Mike Shields never mentioned that....hummm....I did not think of that cus of the small drop.

How does the rear end of the car look...is it sagging, or o.k?

I'm gonna be making a decission on the this setup in the next few days.

Thanks for the info.

First I don't have the SPD/Eibach springs, I have Prodrive/Eibach springs. I don't know if there is any difference in the two. The ride is great! Much more predictable cornering at high speeds! Body roll is very slight, much better than stock. I did install them myself, er...um.....I was the helper . I had two friends help me with it. They have done 5 or so RS's so they knew what they were doing. The guy that did it said I don't need a alignment. He has a thing to check it and said it was just a hair toe in. I'm going to get one anyway just to be safe. I think I read the SPD springs lower the car about 3/4", these probably do the same. It looks nice, not too low though. The rear end does seem to be lower but I looked on a stock GT and his butt seems to be lower too, so that just might be how it sits. I hope I answered all of your questions. If you have any more don't be shy!

Just so all U know, the Legacy's rer arch is smaller in size. So the rear looks as if it's sitting lower, but it's not. Think Touring Car!! And Pat when u do your alignment do 1 of 2 settings.

Fr. -1.5 camber or -1deg. 1/16th" toe out
Re. -1deg. strait toe in rear.

At least this is working Great 4 me on mine.
Sweet turn in and just sticks through the corners!! Tire wear can be an issue, just watch your rotation intervals!!

Ya, he did set the camber on the front. Not sure what degree it is but I can notice it leaning in. I will tell them to do that on the rear though.
