Default 04 ecu into an 02?

I'm swapping parts around with a friend.

Will an 04 ecu (never flashed) work in an 02 that only has an uppipe?

Thanks

My understanding (which could be wrong) is that the '04 ecu will look for sensors that don't exist in the '02 and throw a CEL.

Wirelessly posted (Treo 600: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 95; PalmSource; Blazer 3.0) 16;160x160)

Don't do it! The 02-03 is better for tuning, because of the lack of the closed loop setup and the ability to use resistor-type CEL fixes.

Both above posts are correct. Buy a used ECU.

I'm in the same boat.

Anyone know a good place to find an inexpensive used ECU?

Thanks
