Default Another Night Pictures Thread... WRB STi + full moon

I've been playing with my new digital camera under the full moon. This is the first time I've used a tripod, and the first time I've messed with manual exposure settings.

The only editing I've done is resizing & blurring out the license plates. No color/brightness/contrast enhancements were made.

Enjoy!

The light in this picture is actually white... but it's one of those funky gas-vapor lights that don't photograph in their true color.

Condensation started forming on the lens.

sweet.

looks like a high ISO though, there's some noise. what were you shooting with?

also, i'm going to relay 04aspenwrx's advice, since it is something i hadn't even thought of but makes awesome sense.

Its a little too dark. They look great, but you might want a longer exposure if you can.

Canon S2-IS, 15 sec., f/2.7-3.5. That's all the camera's got, and it still wasn't enough. Hence I had to resort to the high ISO (200).

It's REALLY dark out here. Aside from the full moon. I'd probably have better luck in the city where there's some light pollution.

Thanx for the tip on getting the right amount of taillights... that's awesome!

whoa.

200 is not at all high. there's gotta be some noise in your charge amplifier or image processor to have that much noise.

definitely get under a streetlight or something, try and get that shutter speed higher.

You should've seen the pics I took at ISO 400 ISO 100 had much less noise, but it was way too dark. I really wish I could've done a longer exposure, but 15 seconds is the maximum on the S2-IS.

that first shot is sweet. it looks like you caught a log in the fire or something exploding in the background.

^^ that's a small tree lit up by landscape lights... there's a house just outside of the picture to the right. the reflection from the passenger side mirror is coming from inside the house.
